Just before the Frankfurt Motor Show, several new car images are being leaked and today it is Mercedes-Benz’s turn. Images of the new 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG were leaked onto the internet today. We posted several spy images in the past of the upcoming Benz SLS AMG and I have to say that the images leaked today reveal a much better “look” than the one speculated over previous spy shots.

The “Gullwing” inspired design makes this a classy looking Benz. The new SLS AMG will use the 6.3-liter V8 with 563 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque matted to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission as found in other AMG Benz vehicles. The SLS AMG will weigh in at 3,500 pounds which should make this car good for a dash to 60mph in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 197mph.

Only a few colors will be offered, Alubeam Silver, Alanite Grey, Syvanite Grey and red. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG will go on sale in the beginning of 2011 with a price around €177,310 MSRP in Germany.

I’m a Mercedes fan but I’m on the fence about this car… Sure it’s nice but to be honest it’s just an SL with different door configuration. How many models does Mercedes need in their line up… I think they need to chill a bit…

Oh yea with a price tag near 300K USD there are so many other cars on the market…

Looks like the front was designed by Nissan, while the back designed by Mazda.

I love the look despite it being a tad underwhelming. The massive front mouth with their signature grill, and that long bonnet. Makes it look like it’s all engine.

Far from being “just an SL with a different coor config”… looks like a re-skinned Dodge Viper to me (even carries over the huge door sills). MB used Vipers as test mules a few years ago, and the cars compare fairly well now that the production product has been leaked.

    C&D caught this as well:
