This has happened to my friends Toyota Tacoma and he didn’t have floor mats. Toyota said there was nothing they could do since they couldn’t replicate the problem.
If I was a Camry or prius owner I would remove my floor mats in case it does happen there would be no blame on the mats.

my daughter and i drive 20082009 prius’ they are great cars but we are freightened because of the abc report on unintended acceleration. i asked the florence, sc toyota dealer’s serviv=ce dept about this issue and they said it is a floormat issue. we are not comfotable in view of muly=tiple reports on the net and abc’s report. it is fitting that consumer reports ran a video on abc about how to stop the runaway toyotas after all thet are one of the big reasons so MANY PEOPLE BUY THESE HIGHLY RECOMMENDE CARS!

I owned a 2007 (and currently own a 2008) Toyota Camry that did the same thing. I had other problems with the 2007 car, “TOXIC MOLD” a result of Toyota leaving out body plugs in the car. (They denied that problem too!) Had to take the loss and trade-in the car. Stupid me, I bought another 2008 Camry and ended up in Arbitration again. There was a delay in the transmission which almost got me and my wife killed. Then I was driving in traffic, downtown Rochester N.Y., the car suddenly took off. Lucky me, I put the car in Neutral and the accelerator popped back into place. Almost killed a person walking in front of my car. (I must have a guardian angel)
I mentioned the Sudden Acceleration issue to the Field Tech Specialist Rob Brown of Rochester New York. But I couldn’t prove it because the problem was intermittent. He acted very concerned but wrote it off. I understand, he has to protect Toyota….and they are untouchable.
