It’s Toyota Versus Acura For The Super Bowl Ad Win: Video

Jerry Seinfeld ponders the new Acura NSX

We haven’t been overly enthused by this year’s crop of Super Bowl ads, but then again we’re jaded moto-journalist types. It takes a lot to impress us, and partying vampires, singing dogs and re-hashed movies from the 1980s just won’t do the trick. If only an automaker could come up with something fresh and innovative, maybe we’d actually crack a smile (and admit to it). Read more…

Acura NSX Concept Video Attempts to Bring Sexy Back

January 17, 2012 by

You cannot make much of a convincing argument in saying that the old Acura NSX is not a sexy sports car. With that said, we dare to ask the question: Is the new Acura NSX Concept car at-all sexy or appealing? Some enthusiasts will bring up the fact that the new Acura NSX boasts a hybrid drivetrain and that ends the discussion right there. Others will let the new design marinate with a future possibility of allowing the new Acura NSX to satisfy their appetite for what the NSX was (and still is) known for. Quite possibly the new Acura NSX Concept Gran Turismo 5 (Polyphony) Promo video below will change some people’s minds… somewhat doubtful, but there is always hope in all-things sinful. Enjoy!

Since the demise of the Acura RSX, the brand’s entry-level car has been the TSX sedan. Based on the Honda Accord (first the Euro Accord, now the American Accord), the TSX was relatively affordable in base trim, but quickly got expensive if you opted for the V6 and the Technology Package. At around $30k, the TSX wasn’t a bad daily driver, as long as you weren’t expecting much from its 2.4-liter, four cylinder engine. At nearly $40k optioned out, there were plenty of better choices to pick in the near-luxury, sporty sedan segment. Read more…

The infamous Acura NSX has been a long-time favorite amongst automotive enthusiasts. It has also been a long wait to see a new NSX make its way back onto the streets even if current economic forecasts says this is the worst time to market such a vehicle. Why do it? Because someone will buy it and others will cherish the heart-felt love for such an amazing sports car.

2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon Review & Test Drive

In the good old days of wood paneled station wagons and trips to Wally Word, the automotive enthusiast could not fathom a time when a wagon would be even remotely considered to be cool. Fortunately, the wagon has been resurrected to be cool once again not only by the American and German automakers, but by the Japanese at Acura as well. The all-new Acura TSX Sport Wagon is a car that embodies balanced performance, sexy styling, and utility all wrapped up in a luxury-sports sedan platform.

When Acura and Marvel Collide

The Destroyer about to take out some Acuras Image: Marvel Studios

It’s an undeniable fact that movies and product placement go together like peas and carrots.  Peanut butter and jelly.  Unicorns and glitter (just kidding).  These days, when I pay half my week’s salary, or roughly the GDP of a small undeveloped nation, to see a movie, I expect to be bombarded with a thinly veiled ad to buy something or another.  Often, it’s integrated cleverly into a scene like a character using a new flip-cam, cell phone or eating at a certain restaurant.  I clearly remember watching Twister and noting the the “bad guys” in their sleek, shiny long caravan of black…Dodge Caravans (I see what you did there, Marketing Department).  It seems modern movie-makers though are taking it one step further.  Thor, which recently debuted, features the entire Acura lineup and makes no bones about it. During a press conference at the Shanghai Auto Show, Honda’s president, Takanobu Ito, confirmed what car enthusiasts the world over have hoped for: Honda will build a successor to the legendary NSX. Depending upon your perspective, that’s where the good news ends. While Ito insists that Honda is “working very hard on it”, he gave no indication of what “it” is, where “it” will be sold, when “it” will be released or even what price segment Honda is targeting for “it”. Worse, another Honda representative said the car would be positioned as a high performance counterpart to the CR-Z, a car which only Honda bills as a “sports hybrid”. The NSX replacement is believed to be a parallel hybrid, but Ito would only say that the car would be both exhilarating to drive and environmentally friendly. Read more…
