Honda Confirms Work On NSX Successor. Sort Of.

During a press conference at the Shanghai Auto Show, Honda’s president, Takanobu Ito, confirmed what car enthusiasts the world over have hoped for: Honda will build a successor to the legendary NSX. Depending upon your perspective, that’s where the good news ends. While Ito insists that Honda is “working very hard on it”, he gave no indication of what “it” is, where “it” will be sold, when “it” will be released or even what price segment Honda is targeting for “it”. Worse, another Honda representative said the car would be positioned as a high performance counterpart to the CR-Z, a car which only Honda bills as a “sports hybrid”. Driving the latest Acura TL had me reminiscing of when one of the very first Japanese luxury cars came to the United States in the form of the Acura Legend. Those days are long gone, which could be a good thing or bad thing depending on how you look at it. We look at it as a good thing because Acura has still managed to keep that ‘Legend’ going. Now it can be seen shared in the vast lineup of vehicles all having similar characteristics making them unmistakable, including the 2010 Acura TL.
The new Acura TL SH-AWD with technology package, in which we had the opportunity to review is a worthy contender in such a competitive automotive segment. Polished with some of the latest automotive technology and a sleek newly designed skin aims to set the Acura TL off from its competitors.

Acura says that the all-new 2010 ZDX is a four-door sports coupe crossover. With these attributes it has something for everyone-a sports coupe, a four-door sedan and a crossover utility vehicle. I like to call it a space shuttle because of its unique wide stance, fastback styling, advanced cockpit configuration, easy entry and exit for up to five persons, and its functional rear cargo hold. It’s got it all. Like it or hate the looks, I think that it is a refreshing new niche in the booming crossover segment and breaks new ground for both Acura and the auto industry.

In this corner, weighing in at a curb weight of approximately 2,425lbs. (1,100 kg), the new champion of the GT500 class, the Honda HSV-010 GT, or at least that’s what Honda hopes to hear one day soon. Earlier this year, Honda Motor Co. introduced it’s latest contender for JGTC fame, the Honda Sports Velocity 010 GT Super car. The liquid-cooled, naturally aspirated, F/R, longitudinal V8 HR10EG powered car is the unlikely avatar created by Honda in their contention for GT fame in the 2010 Autobacs Super GT Championship Series of Japan.
