The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating two separate vehicles with one common (potential) fault: the risk of spontaneous engine fires. First, the agency is looking into the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, as two owners have suffered total-loss fires of unknown origin. At least one of the fires occurred in a Cruze Eco model, which reportedly tripped a dashboard warning light only after the car was already on fire. Read more…

And then, as suddenly and mysteriously as it was enacted, the production halt on the 2012 Camaro ZL1 has been lifted. Chevrolet has emailed its dealers, advising them that production of the uber-Camaro will resume shortly, and that customer orders can again be taken. No further details were provided as to the cause of the production halt or the resolution, but the timing seems to indicate the problem was software, not hardware, related. Read more…

Enthusiasts, for the most part, agree that crossover utility vehicles are rather boring. In the light of so many auto makers introducing new crossover vehicles with more of a sports appeal, enthusiasts are naturally raising their eyebrows. Chevrolet knows this and their latest move to update the styling of the new 2013 Traverse crossover attempts to add some ‘sport’ to their efficient 8-seater (7 or 8 passenger configurations available) family hauler.
2013 Camaro 1LE Is Chevy’s Answer To The Boss 302 Mustang

If you’ve never heard of a Camaro 1LE before, we understand. First released in 1988, order code 1LE made the Camaro more competitive in SCCA road racing by including things like a performance rear axle, deleted air conditioning, an aluminum drive shaft, a baffled fuel tank, stiffer shocks and larger brakes. Since the order code was never marketed, you had to be “in the know” to understand what a 1LE was, and only 111 were built during the first year of production. Read more…
GM Still Working On Fix For Chevy Camaro ZL1 Mystery Flaw
March 21, 2012 by Kurt Ernst

A few weeks back we told you that GM had recalled all Camaro ZL1 models delivered to dealers (as well as one erroneously delivered to a customer) to address a mysterious and undefined “quality issue.” While rumors circulated that the problem was software-related, GM remained (and remains) silent on the details behind the recall and production halt. It’s even extended to dealer orders, so at the moment, you can’t even place an order for a 2012 Camaro ZL1. Read more…
Chevy Building Limited Run Of COPO Camaros
March 9, 2012 by Kurt Ernst
In 1969, some enterprising Chevrolet dealers realized that the Camaro could be ordered with the 427 cubic-inch V-8 from the Corvette via a Central Office Production Order (COPO). These “COPO” Camaros soon became the stuff of legend, dominating in drag racing competition, both legal and illegal. Even the order code for the engine, ZL1, made its way into the history books (and onto the fenders of the now-fastest Camaro). Read more…
GM Suspends Production And Shipment Of Camaro ZL1

If you were hoping to get your hands on a new Camaro ZL1 in the coming weeks, we’ve got some bad news for you: due to a “quality assessment,” GM has put a temporary hold on production and delivery of the uber-Camaro. GM isn’t giving any further details, but the hold also delays a current Dealer Order Submission Process cycle, which (presumably) means that dealer orders aren’t being accepted at the present time.
