As far as I know, I wasn’t dropped on my head as a child. I can’t recall eating leaded paint, and I don’t think my mom let me play with a plastic bag over my head. Somehow, however, my developmental years took a wrong turn and I consider epic road trips to be fun. When a buddy called me up and offered me an expense-paid seat as a transit driver on this year’s One Lap of America, it didn’t take me long to say “sure”, even though it meant 10 days on the road, living on coffee, beef jerky and energy drinks. As a transit driver, I wouldn’t even get to compete in the bulk of the events, but it didn’t matter: I was still running away to join the circus. Read more…
Formula One News: Bahrain Grand Prix Canceled

Ecclestone in Bahrain in better days.
If you were counting down the days to the opening of the 2011 Formula One season in Bahrain on March 13, you’ll need to add some days back to the calendar. As feared, political unrest in Bahrain has forced the cancelation of the event, although F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone is working hard to get the Bahrain race on the schedule for later in the year. The best possibility is to reschedule Bahrain for November 20, after the race in Abu Dhabi, but that creates three race weekends in a row since the season ending race is November 27 in Brazil. There’s a chance the final race could be postponed until December 4, which would be much more palatable to teams than running three events back to back on different sides of the globe. Read more…

We have the opportunity to help support The Jacksonville Grand Prix Benefiting Spina Bifida. This event is a six-hour karting event that benefits Jacksonville children with spina bifida. This year marks the 9th annual Jacksonville Grand Prix, held Saturday, April 2nd, 2011.

This year AutomotiveAddicts.com photographer Brandon Connelly was on the scene at Festivals of Speed Jet Port Reception and Motorsport Display in Orlando, FL. The Jet Port Reception started off with many high-class dignitaries from automotive manufacturers as well as the infamous Lamborghini chief test driver, Valentino Balboni. To bring things to a conclusion at Festivals of Speed, our photographer was able to capture many stunning images of the Motorsports Display at the Ritz-Carlton. Precision Sport Industries Open House May 1st BMW Meet

We had the opportunity to attend Precision Sport Industries’ (PSI) first open house BMW meet over the weekend. There were several BMW’s of all models in attendance including the highlight of the show, a new BMW M3 4-door E90 from Active Autowerke. The Active Autowerke’s M3 had a prototype HKS supercharger kit that they are currently developing for the 4-liter V8 engine. In addition to bringing out the V8 beast, they brought a 3-Series E46 supercharged convertible to the event as well just to showcase other applications that Active Autowerke has developed in the past for BMWs.

The infamous Gumball 3000 Rally (London) founded my Maximillion Cooper in 1999 has jump started this year from a pause in 2007 when the event (London-based) was canceled due to a mid-run accident that resulted in two fatalities. Although the rally is not an actual race, you do get some “spirited” driving. After-all, the exotic and luxury vehicles that enter into the 3,000 mile rally are not exactly “slow” vehicles.
