Can Classic Muscle Car’s Handle, Too? Matt Farah Finds Out: Video

It’s human nature to look at the past with rose-colored glasses, and remember (incorrectly) how good things “used to be.” Take muscle cars, for example: most of us remember them as being stupid fast and punishing to drive, while today’s equivalents somehow seem more docile and user-friendly. In reality, however, today’s muscle cars and pony cars can (generally) kick the crap out of the stuff built four decades ago. Read more…

The Nissan Juke R project has just about come to a conclusion. Ever since the conception of the idea of merging the drivetrain of the Nissan GT-R with the Juke, Nissan engineers have been hard at work creating what will probably the fastest compact crossover vehicle around.

The latest videos from Nissan (below) reveals the final touches and testing of the Juke R demonstrating how the GT-R’s powerplant can work in harmony at the heart of a compact crossover vehicle. If Nissan plans to build this thing, we are sure all the marketing department has to do to win over enthusiasts is mention the Juke-R is essentially a GT-R masked under the Juke’s body. Maybe they can call it a new-age “sleeper”.

Have you ever looked at the home office or work desk belonging to a true automotive enthusiast? Did you take notice to any model cars or die-cast models that resemble some of your favorite all-time sports/exotic cars? As I write this very post I notice that I am surrounded by upwards of 10 model cars on my desk and on the wall in my office. Sometimes I dream that I could do a real-life build of one of them especially my 1:18 scale 2001 E46 BMW M3 GTR model car. That would be a dream come true for me.

The Hennessey Venom GT. Image: Hennessey

Try this experiment next time you’ve got a long stretch of open track in front of you (because we’d never condone this kind of driving on public roads): at 70 miles per hour, drop the hammer and keep it matted for 17 seconds. Record your top speed, and compare it to the speed of the Hennessey Venom GT, on a “low boost” setting.

If you’ve got a fast car, I’ll bet you can hit 150 miles per hour from 70 in 17 seconds. An average car will probably struggle to hit 120 or so, but the Hennessey-built Venom GT will run from 70 to 215 mph in those 17 seconds. Need proof? It’s in the video below. Read more…
