It’s an undeniable fact that movies and product placement go together like peas and carrots. Peanut butter and jelly. Unicorns and glitter (just kidding). These days, when I pay half my week’s salary, or roughly the GDP of a small undeveloped nation, to see a movie, I expect to be bombarded with a thinly veiled ad to buy something or another. Often, it’s integrated cleverly into a scene like a character using a new flip-cam, cell phone or eating at a certain restaurant. I clearly remember watching Twister and noting the the “bad guys” in their sleek, shiny long caravan of black…Dodge Caravans (I see what you did there, Marketing Department). It seems modern movie-makers though are taking it one step further. Thor, which recently debuted, features the entire Acura lineup and makes no bones about it. Read more

As a follow-up to our previous post on the teaser images of the upcoming Acura ZDX we have new official photos including one from Autoblog of the Acura ZDX on display at the New York International Auto Show.
It is rather obvious that the Acura ZDX is aimed directly at the BMW X6 with the low swooping roof line very reminiscent of the Bavarian crossover. The production ZDX will be powered by a V6 via an SH-awd 6 speed transmission setup similar to other current Acura models. While a bit sportier than the Acura MDX, the ZDX approaches to be even more car-like. Below is the press release of the new Acura ZDX with additional specs and information.

We already knew everyone was going after BMW right? Even Honda’s luxury division, Acura, has its eyes on targeting the Bavarian pacesetter even when it comes to BMW’s latest sports crossover vehicles including the X6. What is Acura’s answer to the BMW X6? It is the Acura ZDX crossover which is slated to debut at this year’s New York International Auto show this week. Also news about the new Acura ZDX is that it will be going on sale this fall. Expected power plants may include a turbocharged version of the widely used 3.7-liter 305hp V6 found in the MDX and RL or it could be derivative of the TL’s 3.5-liter engine with the addition of a turbo.
