President Obama’s Presidential Limousine: The Beast

January 22, 2009 by
Filed under Automotive, Cadillac, Featured, GM

The new “Beast”, what the secret service calls it, is the latest and greatest creation to hit the road made by GM – Cadillac to transport the 44th President of the United States of America, President Barack Obama. If you tuned into one of your local stations or streamed the inauguration on Tuesday then you know that this new Limousine is not your ordinary vehicle. From some of our photos below you can come to the conclusion from the 5 to 6 inch thick doors, extra thick tires and mammoth size/height of this “Beast” that it is basically a Cadillac-Tank on 4 wheels.

Rumors will tell us that the new Presidential Limo has it’s own ventilation system that seals itself from the outside air and has the most technologically advanced communication system found in a street car in the USA. Looking at the size of this vehicle next to a secrete serviceman or a Chevy Tahoe will tell you a little about massive size of this vehicle. The ride height also suggest that this is a very capable vehicle in the need that it has to go off-road to “get out of the line of fire” God forbid. Still, we all have to speculate what this vehicle is really all about or what is found inside of it. One of the images catches a glimpse of some type of LCD screen mounted low, maybe that is the infamous RED phone.

Today history will be made. Part of this history in the Automotive world will be in the vehicle that transports Barack Obama, our 44th President of the United States of America.

Cadillac revealed some information and few images of the new 2009 Cadillac Presidential Limo. With each new President, including the 44th President, Barack Obama, they get to inherit new and improved “things” and that includes an all new Presidential Limousine. With today’s technology you can be assured that the new 2009 model of the Presidential Limo is the most secure and technologically advanced Presidential Limo ever. It is obvious from the few images provided that the windows are reinforced bullet proof composite type glass coupled with all types of body armor and communication electronics.

The fine details of the new Cadillac Presidential Limo will probably never be revealed to the public for security reasons. But in the mean time we can only imagine what goodies this new mammoth of a vehicle is equipped with. We have included the press release from Cadillac that rolls out some history behind the Presidential Limo which has been an exclusive Cadillac vehicle since 1953.

Detroit 2009: Cadillac Converj (Built off of Chevy Volt architecture)

For the very first time ever, the majority of the cars at the North American International Auto Show were not all powered exclusively by an internal combustion engine. This must be a sign of the “changing times”. One of the most talked about auto shows around, the NAIAS has a number of alternative energy cars and one build off of the Chevy Volt’s architecture is Cadillac’s Converj E-Rev coupe.

From a distance the Converj is reminiscent of the Cadillac CTS coupe but you know it is something quite different. With the same technology as the Volt this one is also expected to be able to travel 40 miles all on electric power where the small gas burning motor will then kick in the recharge the batteries. The only question that many were left with was whether GM will actually build this Cadillac. We know the Chevy Volt will MAKE IT but this one is up in the air. All we know is several people at GM want to see it built including Bob Lutz and Ed Welburn.

2009 NAIAS Preview: 2010 Cadillac SRX Grows Up

The 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit will have plenty to offer despite our economic downturn. GM still plans on rolling out it’s latest and greatest which will include the new 2010 Cadillac SRX.

The new styling of the Cadillac SRX is reminiscent of other new Cadillac models where it will share other components including the CTS’s 260hp 3.6L direct injection V6. A smaller version will be a 300hp turbocharged V6 with 295lb-ft or torque. We would not quite call that “smaller” hence it puts out more power. AWD will be an option once again.

The new SRX will be well balanced and all Cadillac continuing to set that benchmark of the new performance age from GM.

Below is an earlier video of the SRX in the snow having some fun!

2009 Cadillac CTS-V – Already On Ebay

December 10, 2008 by

The new 2009 Cadillac CTS-V is just now on its way to many Cadillac dealerships and some have taken the liberty to put them up for sale on eBay already. We are not even sure it will reach anywhere near the buy-it-now price set it its MSRP of $67,740. Just goes to show the state of our economy.

It seems GM is still in a serious horsepower war with someone. We are not sure who it is but GM may win the race (if it was one). Just like Jay Leno’s new Corvette ZR1, the new Caddy CTS-V is one of the most powerful cars GM has come out with. Maybe they can put this type of “focus” into building some more efficient vehicles and they won’t have to worry about Bailouts and running out of cash. Nonetheless, the new CTS-V is a serious 4 door monster that may give other high performance sports sedans a run for their money, literally.
