‘GOOD CLEAN DIESEL FUN AND FUNCTION’

Originally introduced as ‘all-new’ in 2010, the sixth generation Golf 4-door hatchback showed new fresh, dynamic styling inside and out.  I just finished testing the 2011 version with little changes over the 2010 model and had so much fun driving the athletic yet extremely fuel efficient TDI clean diesel engine mated to VW’s six-speed manual transmission.

Ford’s New Ranger: Remind Me Again Why We’re Not Getting This Here?

I know all the official reasons why we’re not getting the new global Ford Ranger in this country. “Compact truck sales are down”, Ford says, along with “It’s too expensive to certify a diesel engine to meet U.S. emission standards.” Both may be true, but stop and think about it for a second: maybe compact truck sales are down because no manufacturer has launched a ground up-redesign in the past five to ten years. The Ranger hadn’t gone through a significant redesign since 1998, and even that wasn’t as extensive as the 1993 one. In other words, Ford was disappointed that a truck last updated when George Bush Senior was in office wasn’t selling well. Imagine that.

2011 GMC Sierra 3500HD SLE Review & Test Drive

‘Heavy Duty at its Best’

GMC is truly professional grade in the since that they build vehicles for the professional.  Whether it be a CEO of a construction company or white-collar business professional. The new 2011 GMC Sierra 3500HD is a good fit for either, although it perfectly suites those who need maximum towing and hauling capabilities in a pick-up truck.

The 2011 GMC Sierra 3500HD can do it all and then some when it comes to a pick-up truck. If you can only imagine a 6.6-liter V8 Duramax Diesel engine with 765 foot pounds of torque giving the Sierra 3500HD the ability to conventionally tow 17,000lbs. If that does not say a lot then I don’t know what does.

2010 Jaguar XF Diesel S: 35MPG While Producing 443 lb-ft of Torque

For a big luxury car how many can you say has a serious punch and gets decent gas mileage at the same time? Even the Lexus LS Hybrid can’t do this. The new Jaguar XF Diesel European version gets 35 MPG (miles per gallon) while still able to tote around this big 4 door with 443 foot pounds of torque on tap. The new 2010 Jaguar XF Diesel can now run with the likings of the BMW’s twin-turbo diesel. The new dual turbo 3.0 liter with 240hp or 275 hp S trim model and up to 443 lb-ft of torque will be able to propel this new big cat from 0-60 in about 5.9 seconds and top out at around 155mph. If you are not paying attention that is a bit faster than the US versions of the 4.2-liter gasoline powered V8’s sold in America.

For all these years manufacturers have put so much emphases on performance and now it seems time to move that focus to economy but why not have your cake and eat it too.
