The SRT (Street and Racing Technology) group has already done wonders for Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep turning out some serious performance versions of cars that would otherwise be considered somewhat boring to true automotive enthusiasts. Coming from the separate Mopar parts division, who still more than likely works closely with SRT, will be the most powerful Dodge Charger out of the box to date packing upwards of 590 horsepower.

If you have not noticed already, Chrysler has really upped the ante in the marketing department for Dodge by just the looks of their new commercials alone. I have to admit, some of the new Dodge commercials are rather entertaining and I dig them especially the ones featuring the new 2011 Charger.

Dodge and their SRT (Street and Racing Technology) division have released details and images of the new 2012 Charger SRT8 just before the opening of the Chicago Auto Show where it will make its debut.
From the looks of the images alone, the new Charger SRT8 looks like a beast or what some say, a bigger Evo or a 4-door Americanized Nissan GT-R. Either way, I am sure Dodge will take those complements. After all, the new 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 packs in a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 with 465 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. Supposedly the new engine will have better fuel economy mainly due to cylinder deactivation turning this monstrous V8 into a 4-cyl when not under heavy load (highway cruising).
