By the end of this year’s One Lap of America, I was already starting to think about running the event next year. None of my current cars would be ideal, so I began thinking about the perfect car for a first year competitor. Brock Yates, Jr., who organizes the event, was enthusiastic about the Mini Cooper John Cooper Works, but their reliability record isn’t quite as good as Trabant’s. The Mazdaspeed3 would be a valid choice, since it offers decent power, reasonable handling, good cargo capacity and a low price. Still, some Mazdaspeed3 variants on the event ran into mechanical problems when pushed hard, and I simply can’t get past the ugly seat fabric. Then it hit me: the ideal car to run One Lap of America as a first time entrant will be the Ford Focus ST. Read more

I was tipped off on this video via Speedhunters. The video is from Autocar and it is a chase scene of a vehicle attempting to keep-up with a Ford Focus RS. The Focus RS is really moving and the chasing car is doing a good job keeping up. Jeroen at Speedhunters believes that the trailing car is a Mitsubishi EVO X. Check out the video and make your own conclusions. Look for the 3-wheel motion at 21 seconds and airborne action at 46 seconds into the video.
Enjoy the video below.

Small compact cars seem to be the only vehicles moving off of dealers lots in this economic downturn. Sporty styling, a low base price and high mpg is the new catchword with automotive consumers in the last nine-months.
Taking advantage of the new direction in buyers is the all-new 2009 Ford Focus SES.
The Focus coupe is the little car that delivers in a big way for customers with 35mpg fuel economy, cool features including SYNC, a fun drive, strong quality, all at the right price.

The first official images for the production Ford Focus RS have been released. Coated with blue paint and sporty accents, you can view inside and out of the new Ford Focus RS which will sport a 296 horsepower turbocharged five cylinder engine. Believe it or not, this is the fastest Ford ever produced for Europe. Soon, the Ford RS should reach the US shores so we too can sport around Ford’s Blue Devil and whoop up on some other pocket rockets, legally of course, on the streets of the US.
