Toyota’s sports car excitement seems to have been officially resurrected in what is now called the new Toyota GT 86. The official revealing of the long awaited FT-86 concept in its production skin will still take place at the Tokyo Motor Show (Nov. 29th). Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda could not wait to take the wraps off one of the most highly anticipated cars for the enthusiast market, so here it is.

The upcoming 2011 Tokyo Motor Show will give a glimpse into the near future revealing several highly anticipated vehicles to hit showroom floors next year. One of those vehicles remains to be the Toyota FT-86 aka Scion FR-S aka Subaru BRZ. Days before its official production-skin unveiling, Toyota releases a new teaser trailer of the FT-86.

The 2011 New York Auto Show has brought us some interesting vehicles, one of them being the Scion FR-S concept which is an evolution of the Toyota FT-86 that we first saw just before the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. Since then, Toyota has tweaked the design over and over making us enthusiasts truly impatient and ready to see this bad-boy on the road finally. Two new walk-around-videos have been released showing many of the highlighted design cues of the new Scion FR-S concept. If the production version is anything like what we see here, then Toyota may have a winner in my book. Please don’t fu*k this up Toyota! Enjoy the videos below!
Toyota FT-86/FR-S Will Carry Scion Name w/$25,000 Price Tag

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, the new Toyota FT-86 will be badged as a Scion with a price starting around $25,000 when it goes to the market. The name of the vehicle has been reported to be ‘FR-S’ will get a 2.5-liter version of the Subaru 4-cylinder boxer engine powering the rear wheels in the U.S. with other markets will likely get a 2.0-liter version.

I am not even sure why I bother posting the images of what some have claimed to be the Toyota FT-86 Prototype. This thing looks nothing like the images we posted last week. Obviously it looks more like a Subaru WRX and could only be a test mule for the new engine/platform that will be used in the joint venture of Toyota and Subaru’s FT-86. However, I do like the new rendered images of the Subaru version of this new coupe shown below.

No doubt that the upcoming PS3 game, Gran Turismo 5 will be a hit. But wouldn’t be an even greater hit if it included the new Toyota FT-86 Concept car that everyone is ranting and raving over this week? Well, the good news is, The Toyota FT-86 will be in the GT5 game. The bad news is, GT5 is not out yet. WE may have to wait until after Christmas to get our hands on it but then again, some sources say we will get GT5 beforehand.
