When I first saw the Infiniti Essence Concept in Geneva, I could not help but to think that this was Infiniti’s (Nissan’s) answer to Toyota’s Lexus LF-A. Supposedly the Infiniti Essence has a similar engine to that of the Nissan GT-R but also has an electric motor along side of it making this a Hybrid sports car.

Not many cars give you a warm and gushy feeling before you even drive it, but somehow the new Infiniti G37 Coupe does the job just fine and reaffirms it with a slight push of the gas pedal. The new 2009 Infiniti G37 Coupe offers a lofty 330-horsepower V6 engine. This is one of Nissans infamous VQ power-house motors that has been perfected many times over. In addition to the refined powerplant, a 7-speed automatic transmission is standard for all G37’s while a 6-speed manual is available on the Sport 6MT version.

I do not know what is so special about these new sports coupe convertibles all sporting a folding/retractable hard-top but they are making a big splash among the “convertible-lovers”.
Lexus has its new ISC (Lexus IS Convertible) with a folding tin top, BMW has its 3-series (328/335) available with a folding tin top and now Infiniti has the G37 Convertible with a folding tin top. Okay, it is not “tin”, but it sure does remind you of a can opener or maybe that Wall-E creature from the Disney Pixar movie. Either way, these things are remarkable creations.

A loyal reader of AutomotiveAddits.com wanted to chime-in and send us a small article about his so-called “harder choices in life”. Reminiscing like this gets our mind off of the recession and hardship in America for at least a few minutes. Since the introduction of the new Nissan 370Z it has people thinking that their current sports or GT car is far inferior to a new, relatively inexpensive, sports car that can push 60 mph from a standstill in 4.7 seconds. Here is Cole Sliven’s short story:

On The Cutting Edge of Performance and Luxury
The all-new 2009 Infiniti FX50 stands at the top of the performance luxury sport utility segment. I can say that because after my first drive, I was so impressed with the added power, handling, the luxurious appointments, high-tech gear, and the multitude of safety systems that also includes more sensors than you can shake a stick at. My only disappointment was that there is no power liftgate available. No big deal but it could come in handy when you are carrying cargo to the rear with both arms.
