It’s no secret that money has been tight at Chrysler in recent years, and many of the projects on the drawing board have been moved to the back shelf. One of those was a Jeep Wrangle based pickup, which seems to draw admiration and thumbs up from fans whenever it’s shown. Admiration doesn’t always translate into sales, as Toyota found out with their FJ Cruiser, so Chrysler has been hesitant to release a Jeep pickup in the current economy. That didn’t stop them from showing the JK-8 Pickup at this year’s Moab Jeep Safari, and many speculated that a Wrangler pickup would be on the market soon. Read more

Jeep Teases New Concepts For Moab Jeep Safari

Jeep's 'Pork Chop' concept. Image: Chrysler Group, LLC.

Every year Jeep and Mopar work together to launch concept vehicles at the annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari. Last year we saw eight concepts, ranging from the mild (like the stripped but rugged Wrangler J7) to the wild (like the Jeep Nukizer pickup that everyone, myself included, wants to see in production). This year, Jeep has dialed things back a notch, perhaps because the budget is quite a bit tighter than in years past. Jeep’s leaked two images of Moab vehicles, but I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if they showed up with more at the event. So far, the coolest looking ride is the Pork Chop concept you see above. Ideal for blasting through sandstone canyons in springtime, the Pork Chop would be a bit drafty for winter duty in the Northeast. I’m loving the whole minimalist look, but I’m really digging the Torque Thrust style wheels, which look sick on the bare-bones Jeep. I say throw a bikini top on it and call it done; hell, I’d even give it some serious thought, since it’s not like we get snow in Jacksonville. Read more

Playboy Selects “The Hottest Rides Of 2011″, We Offer Our Rebuttal

Let’s keep this simple: if you want to look at gorgeous, semi-naked women or read insightful reporting, go to Playboy.  If you want accurate information on cars and trucks, come to Automotive Addicts.  We don’t do the whole pictures of naked women thing (although we have been known to look at them admiringly), because it’s just not what we do best.  Likewise, when Playboy publishes a list of the “Hottest Rides” of the year, you need to read it with some skepticism.

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bet when you start to think of JEEP you reminisce over the Wrangler, Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee right? Well, maybe you think about M.A.S.H. or an old war movie where they used the old-school Jeeps that made a lot of nose. What about the Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has not been so “Grand” lately with all of the new crossover vehicles and other SUV’s the choose from. Well, that is suppose to end now with the introduction of the latest Jeep Grand Cherokee, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee that is suppose to put the “Grand” back into the Jeep Cherokee.

Jeep… ahhh, the Chrysler Corp. actually managed to pump out and sell about 300,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s in the late 1990′s. Now, with the shaky economy and all of the drama that comes with it the Grand Cherokee tried to hold its own by selling around 100,000 units making it still a big part of Chrysler’s loyal fleet of vehicles.

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be on display at the 2009 New York Auto International Auto Show.

Below is the full press release of the new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee including high-resolution images, specs and new features being introduced.

2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 Test Drive – “A Jeep with an Attitude”

2009jeepgrandcherokeesrt8beautyrightclose01smallThe 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is not for the ‘faint at heart’. It is a bold, powerful sport utility vehicle that will solidly plant you into your seatback and will make you pay for the fun and excitement of driving it since it only achieves 11mpg/city and 14mpg/highway.

Today’s driving thrills don’t come cheap so it is a factor that you will have to make before purchasing the vehicle. On the plus side, with a base price of just $42,500.00, it is much less expensive than the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S listed for $124,000.00, or the Supercharged Range Rover listed for $95,000.00, both of which get about the same gas mileage.

2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 4×4 – ‘MORE DOORS AND MORE FUN IN THE SUN’

The 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited remains the only four-door convertible on the market. With room for five adults, it features the most cargo space ever offered in a Wrangler, plus class-leading off-road capability and everyday practicality.

Whether you have many similar lifestyle friends or a family of five with an active lifestyle, the Wrangler Unlimited has won of the customers who always wanted a Jeep, but also needed more space and versatility. By adding 20.6in. to the standard two-door’s 95.4in. wheelbase, the Unlimited’s 116in. wheelbase allows for a larger rear seat and significantly more occupant and cargo room.

Unlike the four-wheel-drive only configuration of the standard Jeep Wrangler, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is also available in two-wheel-drive. All Jeep Wrangler Unlimited models use the same tough body-on-frame construction, full-framed or half doors, exposed hinges, fold-down windshield and innovative convertible tops.
