Chris Harris, from EVO Magazine, takes a trip state-side to sunny California for a drive in the all-new 2012 Porsche 911. Interestingly enough, the road conditions are not up to Chris’ standards but he seems to somehow manage to have a good time test driving a vehicle that he cannot find much to disagree with. In the end Chris agrees that the new 991 iteration is not perfect, but it’s very very close to being so. Enjoy the video below!

Luke Huxham and Aaron Mai from Maiham Media bring us complete awesomeness in filming one of the legendary RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF (RWB) tuned Porsche 964′s. Nakai-san’s RWB garage in Japan is known for building countless modified-widebody Porsches. This one, owned by Sinji, is one of the latest 964′s featuring a ridiculously wide stance and a huge rear wing. Somehow they manage to pull it off well for what would otherwise be riced-out status for your typical Honda. Check out a recent video featuring Shinji cruising around in one of his astonishing creations with the ‘Pusherman’ song playing in the background. (Video has some NSFW language) Enjoy!

If you liked the redesign of the newest Volkswagen Beetle, chances are good you’ll like the new look of the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera. Like the Beetle, the new 911 has been flattened a bit, and it now rides on a wheelbase nearly four inches longer than the outgoing model. Even at a passing glance, there’s no mistaking it for any car in the world besides the iconic Porsche 911. Read more

It’s a slow, laborious process to launch a ground-up redesign of any automobile. When the ride in question is the Porsche 911, things only get more complicated. The 911 is an iconic automobile and cultural reference; each generation must progress beyond the last, and “good enough” isn’t acceptable when it comes to the 911. If every last detail of the car isn’t perfect, and isn’t exactly what Porsche’s rabid worldwide fan base expects, the manufacturer risks getting crucified by the media. How would you like to be known as the designer who “ruined” the Porsche 911? Read more

Cars. To most people, that is all they are. Transportation, and nothing more. People buy them as they would a washing machine, for to most, a car is yet another appliance. For the masses, the experience of “car” means talking to a man in a bad suit, listen to rehearsed answers to questions you haven’t asked, and haggling over specs, colors and paint protection packages – all before going home swearing you will never do any of it ever again. How something so dear to my heart can be such a chore to others defies my comprehension. For me, the automotive experience holds a deeper meaning.
There is a burning lust that automotive enthusiasts hold for particular vehicles… an unexplainable emotional connection to a seemingly cold metal machine. Case and point, while out for this weekends drive, I stumbled upon an all time love; the iconic 1973 Porsche 2.7 RS.

Porsche Targets Short Term Leases To Move 911s

Selling and leasing cars is a complicated business. If you’re a luxury brand like Porsche, chances are good that you lease a lot more vehicles than you sell outright. When it comes to buying a 911, stepping up to the plate with a check that starts at $80k is a tall order. On the other hand, if you break it down into a “digestible” $1,200 per month or so, the cost seems more within reach (at least to some). Leases are good for business, because they also turn over a lot of clean, low mileage used cars, and a $65k, three year old 911 is a lot more attainable for most people. So what do you do when your three year leases decline, reducing the future population of used cars? If you’re Porsche, you find a way to restructure leases for 24 months. Read more
Just How Fast Is A Nissan GT-R?

The video below contains some pretty damn impressive footage. Shot from the interior of a Porsche 911 competing in Australia’s Targa Wrest Point Rally, it shows a Nissan GT-R passing the 911, over the crest of a hill. Granted, my racing days never included time in a rally car, but I’d like to think that my simple rule against passing other drivers in mid-air helped keep me (and my car) in one piece. Listen to the gravel voiced driver point out at 0:10 into the video, “here comes a GT-R”, much the same way as he’d say “here comes a tornado” or “here comes a heat seeking missile”. I’d say the video is NSFW for language, but the driver is speaking Australian so the word is spelled differently.
It’s hard to judge the speed of the Porsche, but the driver is doing a respectable job of hauling ass. It doesn’t matter, since the GT-R walks him like he was parked, all the more amazing because the Nissan was bottled up behind the Porsche for a good seven or eight seconds. The ability to pull away with that kind of velocity is damn impressive in my book, and I tip my hat to the GT-R driver for being utterly fearless. Or absolutely insane, because the line between the two is rather blurry.
