Lamborghini is on the brink of a major shift in its automotive lineup with the upcoming successor to the Huracán. For the first time, the brand will introduce a turbocharged super-sports car, marking a significant departure from its tradition. A recent teaser video provides a glimpse of what’s in store, featuring the new car’s V8 engine revving beyond 10,000 rpm, which should ease the concerns of loyal enthusiasts.
The 55-second clip takes viewers through Lamborghini’s recent history, starting with the Gallardo, which showcased its performance on a dynamometer. Following that, the Huracán makes a brief appearance, with its tachometer reaching a redline of 8,500 rpm. The spotlight then shifts to the successor, which surpasses the Huracán’s performance with its impressive 10,000 rpm rev limit.
While the video highlights the exhilarating exhaust note of the new twin-turbo V8, it also reveals the presence of an electric motor, hinting at the plug-in hybrid powertrain that will define this new model. Although detailed specifications are yet to be announced, it’s known that the 4.0-liter V8 will produce around 800 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque. The engine’s flat-plane crankshaft suggests it will deliver a sound reminiscent of racing engines.
The teaser video keeps the new car’s design under wraps, but spy shots indicate it will maintain the distinctive wedge-shaped profile characteristic of Lamborghini. Although the test vehicle is camouflaged, it might incorporate some design elements from the 2023 Revuelto, which replaced the Aventador.
Anticipation is building as Lamborghini is expected to unveil the Huracán’s successor during Monterey Car Week, which is just around the corner. This new model will join the Revuelto and the updated Urus SE in Lamborghini’s exclusive hybrid lineup.
