There is nothing kept secret about Mazda being an enthusiast-driven brand. We all know it and respect what they continue to do with many of their mainstream vehicles. The next highly anticipated vehicle from the brand, just after the 2016 Miata MX-5, is a new MazdaSpeed3, which has been envisioned in an attractive rendering by Automobile Magazine – the image you see here.
Speculation of the next MazdaSpeed3 brings about rumors of a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder using the latest Skyactiv tech to produce a total of about 300 horsepower. Additionally, this same engine is said to be first seen in the upcoming refreshed Mazda CX-9 – if it is worthy of duties in the large crossover, we are sure it will be sufficient in the new MazdaSpeed3.
As you would expect, we should get a 6-speed manual transmission as an exclusive mated to the new turbocharged 300-horsepower 4-cylinder engine. The other hot hatchbacks (Ford Focus RS, VW Golf R) will be in the running for competition with the speculated hatchback-only MazdaSpeed3, which we may see hit the auto show floors the end of this year or beginning of next.
