The 2024 Subaru BRZ tS is making a return as a top-of-the-line trim with exciting upgrades. Despite enthusiasts clamoring for a turbocharged STI version, Subaru has chosen to maintain the BRZ’s balance by not adding a turbocharger, which might compromise its accessible performance. Instead, they’ve introduced the BRZ tS, “Tuned by STi,” expanding on the BRZ formula without overpowering it, retaining its 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque 2.4-liter 4-cylinder boxer engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The new BRZ tS boasts several enhancements, starting with a wheel, tire, and Brembo brake package featuring exclusive gold-colored four-piston calipers in the front and two-piston calipers in the rear. The car rides on 18-inch aluminum wheels finished in Dark Grey Metallic with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. The standout improvement, however, lies in the suspension package, now equipped with Hitachi units developed by the STI team, promising an even more capable and thrilling driving experience.

Though the exterior changes are subtle, the tS trim stands out with gloss black side mirror caps and a “shark fin” antenna. Unique “tS” badges can be found on the front air dam and rear decklid, while the LED headlights sport red-painted “BRZ” logos, mirroring the “S” in the tS badge. The interior adds to the exclusivity with blue stitching and stripe accents on the seats, a distinct feature from other trims which usually have red accents. Additionally, small STI logos on the start/stop button and an exclusive STI-themed start-up animation in the digital dash display provide subtle delights for enthusiasts.

The 2024 Subaru BRZ tS will be the first manual BRZ to offer Subaru’s EyeSight driver assistance suite, a significant safety addition. Despite its range-topping status, Subaru aims to keep the BRZ tS affordable, respecting the model’s fun and accessible nature. The expected release date is in the first quarter of 2024, and pricing is yet to be announced, but it is anticipated to be around $36,000.
