The 2023 Nissan Ariya, an innovative electric midsize SUV, has been honored with the esteemed TOP SAFETY PICK+ award by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

To secure the TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation in 2023, the Nissan Ariya underwent rigorous testing, excelling in key areas. The vehicle demonstrated exemplary performance in the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, original moderate overlap front, and updated side tests, earning a commendable “good” rating. Moreover, the Ariya sets a high standard by featuring acceptable or good headlights as a standard feature across all trims.

A critical criterion for the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award is the availability of a front crash prevention system that achieves advanced or superior ratings in both daytime and nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations. The Ariya meets this requirement, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring the safety of both drivers and pedestrians alike.

Notably, vehicles produced after March 2023 are eligible for the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, signifying the incorporation of enhanced safety features and standards. The front crash prevention system in these later models not only attains superior ratings in both daytime and nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations but also offers an optional secondary system that earns a superior daytime rating and an advanced nighttime rating.

An additional improvement contributing to the Ariya’s safety profile involves adjustments made to the aim of the headlights in March. The incorporation of LED projectors across all trims, rated as acceptable, replaces the prior marginal rating received by the headlights before the modifications. This upgrade ensures that the Ariya provides enhanced visibility, especially in low-light conditions, further solidifying its position as a top-tier choice for safety-conscious consumers.
