The Mercedes-AMG E 53 HYBRID for 2025 boasts an impressive blend of power, efficiency, and cutting-edge technology. At its heart lies an AMG-enhanced 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine, coupled with an electric motor, producing a combined system output of 577 horsepower. However, when engaging RACE START, the power surges to 604 horsepower. This formidable combination generates a torque of 553 lb-ft, propelling the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds (using RACE START).

The plug-in hybrid system offers not only exceptional performance but also efficient driving dynamics. The electric motor, with a maximum output of 161 horsepower, is seamlessly integrated into the AMG SPEEDSHIFT® TCT 9G transmission, delivering instant torque of 354 lb-ft from the get-go. The system allows for pure electric driving, with a top speed of 87 mph.

Powering the electric motor is a 400-volt, 28.6 kWh battery positioned beneath the trunk floor, providing 21.2 kWh for everyday driving needs, with the remaining energy reserved for electric boost during high-performance driving. Charging the battery is convenient with an 11 kW onboard AC charger and a 60 kW DC fast charger, capable of replenishing the battery from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 20 minutes. Recuperation up to 120 kW is also achievable, with various levels of recuperation selectable by the driver.

The vehicle’s design is as striking as its performance, featuring AMG-specific elements such as illuminated radiator trim, wider front fenders, and a unique front fascia with powerfully shaped air inlets. The interior exudes luxury, with power-adjustable AMG sports seats, illuminated trim, and optional MBUX Superscreen infotainment system.

Driving dynamics are further enhanced by the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system, AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adaptive damping, and active rear-axle steering. The AMG high-performance brake system ensures precise braking performance, complemented by an electromechanical brake booster for seamless integration of electric recuperation.

The E 53 HYBRID offers a range of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs, including hybrid-specific modes like “Electric” and “Battery Hold,” allowing drivers to tailor the driving experience to their preferences. For those seeking even more performance, the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package adds dynamic details such as a high-performance composite brake system, electronically controlled locking rear differential, and dynamic engine mounts.

For those looking for something truly special, the exclusive “Edition 1” model offers a bespoke exterior and interior package, featuring unique design elements and luxurious finishes, making it a standout among its peers. We expect pricing to announced later this year just before the official launch and be above the outgoing model, which was around $81,000.
