Nissan has officially announced the end of production for the R35 Nissan GT-R in North America by October 2024, marking the conclusion of a 17-year run for the iconic sports car. To commemorate its farewell, Nissan will introduce two special editions: the Skyline Edition and the Takumi Edition, both designed to celebrate the GT-R’s renowned performance.
The Skyline Edition, based on the “Premium” model, will feature a distinctive Bayside Blue exterior paired with a blue interior, priced at $132,985. Meanwhile, the Takumi Edition, derived from the 2024 GT-R T-Spec, will showcase exclusive Midnight Purple paint, carbon-ceramic brakes, gold RAYS forged wheels, and wider front fenders. It honors the craftsmanship of Nissan’s master artisans with a gold VIN plate and red badges, priced at $152,985.

Under the hood, both editions will retain the formidable 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine producing 565 horsepower, coupled with a six-speed dual-clutch transaxle and all-wheel drive. Production numbers for these limited editions have not been disclosed.
Since its groundbreaking debut in 2007, the GT-R has redefined expectations in the performance-car realm, prompting competitors to elevate their game. However, amidst Nissan’s challenges in recent years, the GT-R has received incremental updates and two facelifts during its tenure.
In a statement, Nissan acknowledged the GT-R’s enduring legacy while emphasizing its commitment to future innovations in performance. The automaker has teased an electric GT-R concept, the Hyper Force, hinting at potential developments in the coming decade.
As production of the R35 GT-R draws to a close, enthusiasts and collectors alike will reflect on its unparalleled impact and eagerly await Nissan’s next chapter in the realm of high-performance vehicles. Until then, the R35 will ride off into the sunset as a legendary supercar of a particular time in our generation.
