Hyundai Confirms New Tucson and Elantra Are Coming as More Products Fill Out the Pipeline

Hyundai has officially confirmed that all-new versions of the Tucson and Elantra will be revealed later this year, signaling that two of the brand’s most important nameplates are getting ready for their next chapter. The news came from Hyundai CEO José Muñoz in a message to shareholders, where he outlined a more market-specific product strategy instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all global approach. That makes a lot of sense for Hyundai right now, especially when you consider just how important both models remain. The Tucson continues to be a volume leader for the brand, while the Elantra still holds its own in a market that has not been especially kind to compact sedans.

At this point, Hyundai appears to be aiming the first reveals at its home market of South Korea, with North American timing still left unsaid. Even so, it would be a real surprise if these next-generation models did not eventually land here as 2027 model year entries. Both vehicles have too much weight in Hyundai’s lineup to be treated as regional side projects, and that is especially true for the Tucson, which has become one of the company’s most important products in the U.S. If Hyundai is preparing a full redesign for both, expectations will naturally be high for sharper styling, more tech, and a stronger electrified story.

That broader electrified push also looks like it is continuing beyond just the usual hybrid and EV talk. Hyundai says a new plug-in-hybrid model is scheduled to arrive in 2027, though the wording points to something closer to an extended-range electric vehicle setup, where a combustion engine serves as a generator for a larger battery-based system. If that is the path Hyundai takes, it could be a pretty smart bridge between conventional hybrids and fully electric vehicles, especially for buyers who want more electric driving range without the anxiety that can still come with charging infrastructure in some areas.

Then there is the pickup. Hyundai is also doubling down on plans for a midsize body-on-frame truck before the end of the decade, which could become one of the more interesting additions to its future lineup. Details are still scarce, but the move alone shows Hyundai is thinking bigger than just updating existing volume sellers. Between the next Tucson, next Elantra, a new range-extended electrified model, and a proper truck on the horizon, Hyundai is clearly setting up for a much broader and more flexible lineup over the next several years.
