Even though the subtle update that the 2012 Nissan GT-R is suppose to receive is hardly noticeable (minor body work and suspension upgrades), rumor has it that it will receive most of its change under the hood in the form of an additional 50 horsepower.

GTRBlog reported that the 2012 GT-R could get as much as 530 horsepower putting it back in the running’s with the Porsche GT2 RS, Corvette ZR1 and Viper ACR. To add to the rumor mill is the thought of a new SpecM edition GT-R will be sold in Japan under the name “Egoist.”

Do you think 530hp is enough to beat the Vette ZR1 in a straight line?

The GTR is not targeted at the ZR-1, it has always targeted the Porsche Turbo. Nissan explicitly said “we needed to increase the power to keep up with the Porsche turbo.”

I believe out the gate awd v6 turbo with quick enough boost build up will easily keep up with a heavier v8 sc corvette.

I like this post and it has shown me some sort of desire to have success for some reason, so thank you.
