It’s the VW Golf we’d most like to drive: built for endurance racing, the Golf24 rocks a 450 horsepower version of VW’s 2.5 liter, 5-cylinder engine. Shifting through a sequential gearbox, power gets sent to all four wheels via a system borrowed from the Audi TT RS. Uber-large fender flares cover the car’s widened track and give the hatchback a positively sinister appearance.
The Golf24 will take to the Nürburgring this weekend, for the annual running of the 24 hour endurance event. Three Golf24s will be entered, and the driver list includes former F1 pilots Johnny Herbert and Mark Blundell alongside up-and-coming drivers like Rene Rast and Edoardo Mortara. Sadly, we won’t get to see the cars run on this side of the pond, so if you want to see the Golf24 in action, you’d best have a passport and a sizable bank account.
