The all-new 2013 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, sharing its underpinnings with the new Ford Fusion Hybrid, is now the most fuel efficient luxury vehicle (with a hybrid powertrain) available in America. Just a while ago, the new Ford Fusion Hybrid was touted as the most fuel efficient midsized sedan with an astonishing 47 mpg across the board. With the new Lincoln MKZ Hybrid utilizing the Fusion’s powertrain, it is expected to be just as efficient. However, the new Lincoln MKZ only gets an EPA certified 45 mpg city and 45 mpg highway rating (45 mpg combined), possibly due to a heavier weight and other design factors.
At any rate, with a combined 45 mpg figure and lower price than the midsized luxury Hybrid competition, the new Lincoln MKZ is an attractive package, mostly in a literal sense considering the sleek styling of the MKZ. Another astonishing aspect of the new MKZ Hybrid, is that it can be had for virtually the same price as a non-hybrid model with the standard 2.0-liter EcoBoost getting 22 mpg city and 33 mpg highway. Though, the new MKZ is offered with a total of 3 different engine configurations, the 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder, 3.7-liter V6 -both available in all-wheel-drive, and the hybrid powertrain with a 2.0-liter engine and electric motor setup.
