The electrified Polestar 4 sedan finally made its much-anticipated debut in North America at the New York Auto Show after its global unveiling the previous year. Polestar, renowned for its premium all-electric vehicles, revealed the pricing and trim options for the Polestar 4, with a starting price of $54,900 in the United States, excluding a $1,400 destination fee.

Contrary to its numerical designation, the Polestar 4 fits between the Polestar 2 and 3 models. This positioning pits it against competitors like the Tesla Model Y, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Mustang Mach-E, although higher-end trims of the Polestar 4 rival vehicles like the Cadillac Lyriq and Mercedes EQE SUV in terms of pricing.

The Polestar 4 offers a range of electric drivetrains catering to diverse preferences. The Long Range Single motor variant, while producing a modest 268 hp, promises a range exceeding 300 miles according to EPA estimates. For enthusiasts seeking more power, the Long Range Dual motor variant boasts an impressive 536 hp, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in under 3.8 seconds, making it Polestar’s fastest production car to date.

Exclusive to the Long Range Dual motor variant is the optional Performance Pack, featuring enhancements such as 22-inch forged wheels, Polestar-engineered brake discs with Brembo calipers, and a performance chassis, elevating both aesthetics and performance.

The standard equipment of the Polestar 4 is generous, including features like a panoramic glass roof, 20-inch diamond-cut wheels, wireless device charging, a 360-degree camera, power-operated tailgate, soft-closing ‘e-latch’ doors, digital key, and power-adjustable front seats. Additional luxury packages are available for those seeking more comfort and convenience, such as the Pilot Pack, Pro Pack styling package, and the Plus Pack, offering a range of premium amenities and features.

Technologically advanced, the Polestar 4 boasts an infotainment system controlled via a 15.4-inch touchscreen, utilizing the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform powered by Android Automotive OS, offering integrated Google features like Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play, with over-the-air update capabilities.

The Polestar 4 is set to go on sale in April, with customer deliveries expected in the fourth quarter of 2024. While the Polestar 3 will be manufactured in America, the Polestar 4 for the US market is anticipated to be produced in South Korea.

Gregor Hembrough, Head of Polestar North America, expressed enthusiasm about the Polestar 4’s innovative SUV coupe design, emphasizing its blend of driving performance, occupant comfort, and captivating exterior design, marking a significant expansion for Polestar from a one-car to a three-car company with the introduction of two luxury SUVs in the same year.
