Hyundai is gearing up for an electrifying showdown at the 2024 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with its formidable Ioniq 5 N. This cutting-edge electric vehicle is poised to compete in the challenging terrain of the race, aiming to clinch the title of the fastest entrant in the Electric Production SUV/Crossover class.

While the Ioniq 5 N won’t be entirely stock, safety enhancements such as a roll cage, removal of rear seats, and a Recaro Pro Racer SPA Hans seat with Sabelt harnesses have been added, ensuring the driver’s safety amidst the demanding course. Despite these modifications, the essence of the EV remains unchanged, mirroring the model available to consumers.

Hyundai will field a total of four Ioniq 5 N EVs in the Exhibition division, each with its own unique driver and specifications. Notable contenders include veteran racer Paul Dallenbach and Pikes Peak rookie Ron Zaras, who bring diverse experiences to the competition. Additionally, two Ioniq 5 N entries will undergo further modifications for motorsport, piloted by renowned drivers Dani Sordo and Robin Shute. These modified EVs will debut their prowess at the ADAC RAVENOL 24 Hours of Nurburgring before taking on the challenges of Pikes Peak.

Unlike the Rivian R1T’s victory last year, which lacked competition in its category, the Ioniq 5 N aims to set a new record, showcasing its performance-oriented design and capabilities. With its track record of impressive achievements, including a remarkable Nurburgring time, Hyundai’s electric SUV is poised to leave a significant mark on the Race to the Clouds. As anticipation builds for the 2024 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 23, enthusiasts eagerly await to witness the Ioniq 5 N’s electrifying performance on the iconic mountain course.
