Good News, Supercar Fans: Airbags For Pagani’s Huayra In Process

Earlier this week it looked like Pagani’s Huayra would be excluded from sales in the U.S. after all. The reason was an NHTSA ruling that required all cars built after the 2000 model year to use advanced airbags. Some manufacturers, such as Tesla and Lamborghini, were granted exemptions due to their low unit-volume sales in America. Pagani attempted the same thing when they decided to sell the Huayra in the U.S., filing for the exemption with the NHTSA back in 2008. The boutique supercar builder estimated that designing, testing and implementing an advanced airbag system for the Huayra would cost upwards of $5.7 million. Besides, they argued, the Huayra already uses advanced safety features in its construction, such as a carbon fiber and titanium safety cell designed to protect the occupants in the event of a crash. Pagani Huayra Officially Revealed

The newest supercar from Pagani has made its official web debut after releasing a series of teaser images. The new Pagani Huayra packs in a 6.0-liter twin-turbo Mercedes-Benz AMG V12 engine with over 700 horsepower and 740 foot-pounds of torque. For a supercar that weighs under 3,000 pounds, mostly due to carbon fiber construction, it can reach speeds around 230 mph. All of that power is directed to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Video: Fifth Gear Test Drives Pagani Zonda R

The Pagani Zonda is a marvel and in race-car trim and form, Zonda R version, it is a dream. Tiff Needell from Fifth Gear takes the Pagani Zonda R out for a spin. The Zonda R already posted a record-setting lap around the Nordschleife track at Nurburgring of 6 minutes 47.5 seconds. Pagani Zonda Tricolore Promotional Video

What seems a little late after the introduction of the Pagani Zonda Tricolore, which took place the beginning of this year, a new promo video is released in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Italian National Aerobatic Team known as Frecce Tricolori. They are basically an Italian version of the Navy’s Blue Angels which means they are bad-assed just like the Pagani Zonda.

Holy Zondarrific: Pagani Zonda HH Revealed

The Pagani Zonda is known to many as one of the rarest supercars with the most one-off versions. To add to the list of Zonda one-offs, Pagani has created the Zonda HH for one of its customers. This version incorporates parts from other Zonda versions such as the AMG V12 engine from the Pagani Zonda Cinque that produces 680 horsepower. The body work comes from the Zonda F Roadster. The package was completed with a manual transmission instead of the Zonda R‘s paddle shifter which makes me think that the owner of this beast is a true automotive enthusiast.

Video: Pagani Zonda R Sets 6:47 Nurburgring Lap Time

A new video documenting the Pagani Zonda R’s 6-minute 47-second Nurburgring lap time has been released. The Zonda R lap time shatters the one set some time ago by the Ferrari 599XX at 6:58. Even though the Zonda R is built off of a street-car design, it is not a street-legal car therefore this will not go down in the record book for fastest production car around the Ring.
