Genesis GV60 Magma Turns Up the Heat With 641 HP and Supercar-Level EV Performance

Genesis is no longer being shy about where it wants to go as a brand, and the GV60 Magma might be the clearest signal yet. What started as a luxury upstart with a strong design identity is now stepping deeper into serious performance territory, and this all-electric crossover is leading the charge. With sharper responses, bigger numbers, and a more aggressive attitude, the GV60 Magma looks like Genesis’ attempt to prove that a premium EV can still feel genuinely exciting from behind the wheel.

On paper, the numbers are enough to get anyone’s attention. Genesis says the dual-motor setup makes this the most powerful vehicle the brand has ever produced, putting out 641 horsepower and 790 Nm of torque. That translates to a 0 to 100 km/h run in just 3.4 seconds and a 0 to 200 km/h sprint in 10.9 seconds, with a top speed of 264 km/h. Those are not just quick luxury EV figures. Those are numbers that place the GV60 Magma in a much more serious conversation, especially for buyers who want straight-line speed without giving up refinement.

What makes the Magma more interesting, though, is that Genesis is not relying on brute force alone. The brand says it has worked over both the hardware and software, including upgraded electric motors, refined rotor speed development, and a next-generation two-stage motor control system that helps maintain stronger performance at higher speeds. Boost Mode also gets more aggressive here, delivering up to 15 seconds of maximum output instead of the shorter burst found in the standard GV60. That added punch should give the Magma a more dramatic feel when drivers really lean into it, which is exactly what a vehicle like this needs.

Genesis also seems to understand that speed without control is only half the story. The GV60 Magma gets five drive modes, including Magma-exclusive Sprint and GT settings, giving it a wider range of personalities depending on the situation. Range and Comfort are there for everyday commuting, Sport sharpens things up for more spirited driving, Sprint is designed for maximum aggression, and GT appears to be the mode that blends long-distance luxury with effortless passing power. Even the accelerator pedal has been specifically tuned to feel more natural and more confidence-inspiring, with resistance calibrated to improve precision while reducing fatigue in daily use.

That might end up being the real secret sauce of the GV60 Magma. Plenty of EVs are fast now, but not all of them feel special, and not all of them deliver speed in a way that feels polished and deliberate. Genesis seems to be chasing that balance between luxury and performance rather than simply building a spec-sheet monster. If the production version delivers on that promise, the GV60 Magma could end up doing more than just becoming the hottest Genesis EV yet. It could become the vehicle that gives the Magma performance sub-brand real credibility from day one.
