Porsche has released some details and exclusive photos of the upcoming Cayman R which will be debuting at the LA Auto Show today. The Cayman R special edition features performance improvements over the Cayman S model along with a lighter weight body. The Cayman R will be 121 pounds lighter have 10 more horsepower and sit 20mm lower than the Cayman S.
At the heart of the Porsche Cayman R will be the 3.4-liter six-cylinder pumping out 330 horsepower mated to a 6-speed manual transmission good for a 5 second-flat 0-60mph run and top speed of 175mph. The optional PDK 7-speed dual clutch transmission should be a tad faster making the 0-60mhp run in only 4.9 seconds. A new Sport Chrono package offering should make the Cayman R even faster estimating 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds.
The Cayman R will be sold without air conditioning and a sound system but will be available at an extra cost.
Price is set to start at EUR 69,830 in Germany and goes on sale in February 2011. More information will be provided via Porsche’s live conference from the LA Auto Show today at www.porsche.com/cayman-r-live.
