Volkswagen has revealed the new 2012 Beetle which is set to debut as the Shanghai Auto Show and then hit the floor of the New York Auto Show later this week.
The new 2012 VW Beetle design brings more of the retro-styling into play as we can see from the low-resolution images provided by Motor Trend. We already suspected a flat-roof design from previous teaser photos and spy shots. The 2012 Beetle will sit about .5 inches lower, 3.3 inches wider and 6 inches longer than the outgoing model.
Also, don’t forget that you can get discounted new car pricing with a free quote through qualified local dealer partners.
The new Beetle will sport 19-inch wheels, bi-xenon headlights and other available luxury amenities not found on previous models. Engine choices for the 2012 VW Beetle will be a 200-hp 2.0-liter TFSI engine, 170-hp 2.5-liter 5-cylinder or a gas sipping 140-hp TDI (turbo diesel) with 236 pound-feet of torque. Power from the engine choices will be directed to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual or 6-speed dual-clutch (DSG).
Now the lucky folks who attended Oprah Winfrey’s “Favorite Things” Christmas special episode last year will know what the car that they won will actually look like.
