Not many predicted it and not many could believe it, but it happened. Buddy Rice, Brumos Porsche racing team put together by the late Bob Snodgrass with a history of the Donohue family wanting to stand on that winning podium for some time now has taken the checkered flag at the 2009 Rolex 24 hour race at Daytona Florida. The number 59 Brumos Racing Porsche Riley came in 3rd place to share a spot in the winning circle. What a great accomplishment by a wonderful team that is well deserved.

Running on the switched-over reserve tank of gas in the last couple minutes of the 24 hour race, David Donohue and the 58 car along with the hard work put into making the Porsche Riley hold off Juan Pablo Montoya’s No.1 Lexus Riley through the last 30 minutes of the race. David Donohue celebrates the 40th anniversary of his father’s, Mark Donohue, triumph with this win. (Mark Donohue won this same race 40 years ago while his wife was pregnant with his son, David Donohue, who won today)

In the GT class, Andy Lally, Justin Marks, Jorg Bergmeister, Patrick Long and RJ Valentine worth together in the # 67 TRG Porsche GT3 to take a win with partners in the #66 TRG Porsche GT3 Spencer Pumpelly, Tim George Jr., Richard Leitz and Emmanuel Collard taking second place.
