The 2024 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid has been unleashed as the most powerful Cayenne yet. While there’s been ongoing debate about whether the Cayenne was the savior of Porsche as a brand, one thing is undeniable – it’s been a monumental success, embodying the essence of Porsche’s engineering prowess and sporting DNA, even in the form of an SUV.

Porsche has been no stranger to the electrification game, having previously introduced the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, a robust performer with 671 horsepower. However, the 2024 Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid takes things to an entirely new level. With an astonishing 729 horsepower under its hood, this powerhouse stands as the mightiest Cayenne to date, reaffirming Porsche’s commitment to pushing the envelope.

This formidable SUV is part of the third-generation Cayenne lineup, which recently debuted. Its beating heart comprises a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine working in tandem with a robust 174-horsepower electric motor. Together, they unleash a staggering 729 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque. While the power gains over its predecessor are impressive, the acceleration from 0 to 60 mph improves only by a fraction, clocking in at 3.5 seconds. Yet, this family-oriented hauler’s ability to reach a top speed of 183 mph is a testament to its remarkable performance capabilities.

Porsche hasn’t just enhanced the powertrain; they’ve also upgraded the battery capacity for this model to 25.9 kWh, a significant improvement over the 17.9 kWh found in current E-Hybrid variants. Alongside this, the inclusion of an 11 kW onboard charger significantly reduces charge times to just 2.5 hours when using a 240-volt home charger. While exact electric range figures haven’t been provided, one can safely assume it’ll exceed the 15-mile range of the current E-Hybrid, possibly approaching 20 miles.

Enhanced ride quality and handling are central to the Turbo E-Hybrid’s driving experience, thanks to the standard adaptive air suspension. This system allows for precise adjustments to compression and rebound settings, striking a balance between comfort and sharp handling. Furthermore, Porsche engineers have meticulously designed it to reduce the common “dive and squat” motions experienced during heavy acceleration and braking.

Visually, the Turbo E-Hybrid distinguishes itself with a unique front fascia and larger air intakes, giving it an unmistakable presence on the road. The quad exhausts and striking red brake calipers accentuate its performance-oriented nature. The SUV also inherits several standard features from the 2024 Cayenne lineup, including matrix LED headlights and an array of upgraded interior tech features.

Surprisingly, despite its increased power and impressive performance, the 2024 Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid comes with a lower starting price than its predecessor, starting at $148,550. For those who prefer a coupe body style, Porsche offers an option with a starting MSRP of $153,050, providing even more variety to discerning buyers.

The 2024 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid stands as a testament to Porsche’s commitment to innovation and performance. With its astonishing power, improved electric capabilities, and a more accessible price point, it’s poised to make a substantial impact in the competitive SUV market. Whether it saved Porsche or not, it’s certainly continuing to define the brand’s legacy of engineering excellence and driving excitement in every sense of the word.
