Subaru has unveiled the slightly updated 2024 Subaru Solterra, an all-electric SUV with improved charging capabilities and a host of new features. Despite these update advancements for the 2024 model year, Subaru has managed to maintain the starting price at $44,995 MSRP, reflecting a commitment to affordability in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle (EV) market.
One of the standout features of the 2024 Solterra is its enhanced charging performance. The high-capacity lithium-ion battery can charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 35 minutes, making it one of the fastest-charging electric SUVs on the market. This is a significant improvement from its predecessor and adds convenience for drivers, especially on long journeys where quick charging is essential.
The upgraded battery conditioning system also enables efficient charging at temperatures below freezing, reducing charging times by up to 80 minutes in certain conditions. This improvement is crucial for those living in colder climates, ensuring the Solterra remains a reliable choice for EV enthusiasts.
The 2024 Solterra continues Subaru’s commitment to safety with the inclusion of standard Subaru EyeSight® driver-assist technologies. These features include hands-free driving at speeds up to 25 mph, making urban commuting and traffic situations more convenient for drivers. The Solterra also introduces all-new advanced driver-assistance features, such as the ability to change lanes on command by activating the turn signal and Front Cross Traffic Alert for enhanced safety during intersections.
The Solterra has already earned accolades for its safety features, with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarding it the TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation in 2023 and the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration giving it a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score.
Subaru’s commitment to versatility is evident in the Solterra’s design. The addition of standard roof rails with an impressive load capacity of up to 700 pounds makes it an ideal choice for outdoor enthusiasts, allowing for the installation of rooftop tents. The SUV’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, Dual-Function X-MODE®, and 8.3 inches of ground clearance contribute to its genuine off-road capability, setting it apart as a versatile and adventure-ready electric SUV.
The 2024 Subaru Solterra is available in three trim levels: Premium, Limited, and Touring, each offering a unique set of features to cater to different preferences and needs.
These prices remain consistent with the previous year, emphasizing Subaru’s commitment to offering an affordable yet feature-rich electric SUV. The Solterra is expected to arrive at Subaru retailers nationwide in early 2024.
One quick note in knowing that the Subaru Solterra shares its platform with the Toyota bZ4X, we have not received confirmation for these changes applying to the bZ4X as of yet. However, we’re certain the updates, such as the faster charging rate and higher capacity battery, should filter its way to the bZ4X.
