These incidents, both occurring at night on freeways, involved Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles. The crashes, resulting in the tragic loss of three lives, prompted the agency to scrutinize the use of Blue Cruise prior to the accidents.
One collision took place in San Antonio, Texas, in February, claiming one life, while the other occurred in Philadelphia in March, resulting in two fatalities.
NHTSA’s inquiry aims to assess the performance of Blue Cruise in executing driving tasks, as well as evaluating its camera-based driver monitoring system.
