You can say I’m incredibly familiar with the Toyota RAV4 Woodland edition since I purchased the 2023 Calvary Blue hybrid crossover for my daughter when she graduated high school a few years ago. The sporty, rugged, and efficient SUV integrates a hybrid powertrain with 18” bronze alloy rims, Falken WILDPEAK all-terrain tires, a slightly raised suspension, electronic AWD, and black body cladding. But now we can move on to the 6th generation 2026 RAV to represent America’s favorite crossover.
The RAV4 returns with new styling, features, trims, and colors. The edgy vehicle is so popular that Toyota sold 6.4 million RAV4s in the U.S. since its inception. For three decades the Toyota RAV4 has won the hearts of Americans, becoming the top-selling non-truck in 2024. It’s also been the brand’s best-selling compact SUV for eight consecutive years. Last year alone Toyota sold over 475,000 units, a 9.3% increase from 2023. Its fuel efficiency, comfort, practicality, and reliability make the RAV4 a top player in the automotive market.

The 2026 RAV4 receives a major overhaul inside and out, featuring new electrified-only powertrains, a sharp, curvilinear design, and several trim specifications. While the interior changes are impressive, the exterior is equally noteworthy. Customers can choose either a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) or a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) for their RAV4. This move is an excellent option because hybrids are the best of both gas and electric energy worlds. Toyota made the right bet when it decided to focus on hybrid platforms.
There is a wide range of trims to choose from which can be confusing at first. Let me break it down since each has a unique persona. The three Core grades include the RAV4 LE, RAV4 XLE Premium, and the RAV4 Limited. Each is powered by the Gen 5 Toyota Hybrid System, comprising a 2.5-liter engine with a choice of AWD or FWD. Owners can expect up to 44 mpg combined! Next are the two Sport Grades, the RAV4 SE and RAV4 XSE. Toyota offers them as a Hybrid or the 6th Gen Toyota PHEV System featuring 324 combined horsepower and up to 52 miles of all-electric driving. These models are outlined with black trim, a unique honeycomb grille, and 18” black multi-spoke alloy rims, while packing quite a punch when you accelerate. The 12.3″ Digital Gauge Cluster is standard on all trims.

Then there is the first-ever RAV4 GR SPORT produced jointly with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Company for individuals looking for more pizzazz. Yet, it is still an entry-level grade for this brand and doesn’t quite fit the narrative. The GR SPORT philosophy is performance first, then aesthetics, but I didn’t notice any visible uptake in acceleration, nor would I care about hitting corners at speed in a RAV4. Nevertheless, some of the GR SPORT highlights encompass a black GR Functional MATRIX grille, paddle shifters and metal pedals, 20” spider rims and red calipers, Dunlop Sport Maxx summer tires, black contrasting around the body including black mirrors, black tailgater spoiler, black wheel arches, black side skirts, a front chin spoiler with active cooling ducts, and a 15 mm lower and 20 mm wider stance than the Limited.
Last but not least is the 2026 Toyota RAV4 Woodland I am currently highlighting. It’s the perfect vehicle for outdoors-minded people and young drivers since they love playing bumper cars during the first few years behind the wheel. The Satin Black vinyl body armor will protect the RAV4’s metal panels in minor fender benders. Likewise, standard AWD and grippy Dunlop GrandTrek all-terrain tires increase traction and help ensure your child makes it home in time for dinner. Its Hybrid Powertrain produces 236 combined horsepower while the PHEV achieves 324 horsepower and up to 49 all-electric miles. The Woodland is both punchy and efficient and can tow 3,500 lbs. With an 8.5″ ground clearance, it treasures rough riding on trails and can creep downhills using Downhill Assist Control and ABS.

Externally, the Woodland noticeably stands out with its distinctive Satin Black Hammerhead split grille, 18″ Matte Metallic Grey alloy rims, raised roof rails, and tough rubber bumper designs. Toyota is additionally introducing a new greyish hue to the Woodland brand dubbed Urban Rock.
The interior has been significantly refreshed and packed with novel technology and safety features. In the Woodland you will find a distinct cabin with red-orange accents (including the new steering wheel and SofTex-trimmed seats), Woodland-branded all-weather rubber floor mats and cargo mat, five USB-c ports, and a 120V rear power outlet. The 3D Panoramic View Monitor adds a Multi-Terrain Monitor when navigating the elements. A 10.5” touchscreen featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with a 6-speaker audio system is the intro infotainment package. Yet, owners can upgrade to the 12.9” Toyota Audio Multimedia System and 9-speaker JBL audio. The RAV4 will furthermore debut Toyota’s software development platform, Arene. Toyota says Arene will be the foundation for safety technology like Toyota Safety Sense 4.0, and hopes to enhance connectivity with its customers through the Toyota Audio Multimedia System. Drive modes include Snow and Trail mode as well.

Pricing has yet to be released for the RAV4 Woodland, but expect it to be higher than the current 2025 model’s $38,000 MSRP. A basic RAV4 Hybrid FWD will start in the low $30,000s. More importantly, the RAV4 comes with complimentary ToyotaCare that covers your vehicle’s scheduled maintenance for two years and provides two years of Roadside Assistance.
The 2026 RAV4 will surely be a hit with its cutting-edge styling and electric efficiency as Toyota brings its successful compact crossover into a new era.
