2027 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Interior Preview Shows a High-Tech Cabin With Real Performance Intent

Mercedes-AMG has finally peeled back the curtain on the new GT 4-Door’s cabin, and the first impression is exactly what you would expect from Affalterbach in 2026. It is dramatic, digital, and undeniably upscale, but there is also something more encouraging here than just another luxury car overloaded with displays. Beneath the ambient lighting and glossy surfaces, this interior looks like AMG actually wanted the driver to feel involved.

Yes, the screens are impossible to ignore. The dashboard is dominated by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch central touchscreen, with an available 14-inch display for the front passenger. That sounds like a familiar luxury-car formula, but Mercedes-AMG seems to have taken a more driver-centric approach this time. The center screen is angled toward the person behind the wheel, and the whole layout gives off the impression that this four-door GT is trying to be more cockpit than lounge.

That distinction matters because the AMG GT 4-Door has always lived in an interesting space. It is supposed to balance grand touring comfort with real performance credibility, and this new interior seems determined to lean into both. The materials look rich, the quilted door-panel design adds some visual warmth, and the stainless Burmester speaker grilles help elevate the cabin beyond the usual tech-heavy minimalism that has become so common across the industry.

One of the most interesting details is not a screen at all. Mercedes-AMG has kept a trio of illuminated rotary controllers on the center console, and that alone says a lot about the mission here. While so many new vehicles bury everything in software menus, these controls appear to give drivers direct access to traction control, powertrain response, and cornering behavior. In a car wearing an AMG badge, that kind of tactile interaction still matters, and it is refreshing to see Mercedes leave at least some room for real hardware.

The rest of the cabin mixes theater with functionality in a way that will probably split opinions. The ambient lighting is everywhere, from the dash and doors to the cupholders, and some buyers will absolutely love the futuristic glow. Others may find it a little excessive. Either way, Mercedes knows its audience. A flagship four-door performance car in this segment is expected to make an entrance, and the new GT 4-Door looks ready to put on a show every time the doors open after sunset.

There are also a few thoughtful packaging details that suggest AMG is not overlooking day-to-day use. The center console includes space for two smartphones with wireless charging, the front seating position is mounted low to mimic a traditional sports car, and buyers will have a choice between standard seats and more aggressive AMG Performance buckets. Even the rear seating appears to have been designed with more than just styling in mind, with Mercedes promising generous legroom and the option of either a two-seat or three-seat rear layout.

Perhaps the most attention-grabbing feature of all is the available Sky Control roof. Instead of a standard panoramic glass panel, Mercedes-AMG is offering a split-glass setup that can switch between clear and opaque, while also projecting illuminated graphics at night, including racing stripes and AMG branding. It sounds a little wild, maybe even a little over the top, but in a car like this that is not really a criticism. Buyers shopping in this space are not looking for restraint. They are looking for something memorable.

What remains unclear, of course, is everything we still have not seen. Mercedes-AMG has only shown the interior so far, which means the exterior, full technical specs, and final powertrain details are still being held back. Based on recent reporting and the direction AMG has been signaling with its GT XX concept, this new GT 4-Door appears set to move deeper into the high-performance EV world, even if Mercedes has not yet laid every card on the table. That could make this one of the brand’s most important launches in years.

Pricing is still a question mark, but nobody should expect this new model to come cheap. The outgoing AMG GT 4-Door ranged from a bit over $103,000 to more than $208,000, so this next-generation car will likely climb beyond that, especially if the final spec sheet lives up to the promise of the interior. For now, though, Mercedes-AMG has done exactly what it intended to do. It gave us just enough to start talking, and from the look of this cabin, the conversation is only getting started.
