Corvette Grand Sport X Rumor Points to a Possible E-Ray Successor for 2027

The C8 Corvette rumor mill is not slowing down anytime soon. Even with the ZR1X now leading the charge as the ultimate expression of Chevrolet’s mid-engine performance car, new speculation suggests there may still be another interesting chapter ahead for the lineup. According to Corvette Blogger, Chevrolet could be preparing not just one Grand Sport model for 2027, but two, including a possible hybrid-powered Grand Sport X that may effectively replace the current Corvette E-Ray.

As reported by Corvette Blogger, the alleged plan would see the existing E-Ray phased out in favor of a pair of new models. One would be a more traditional Grand Sport, likely positioned in the familiar space between the Stingray and Z06. The other would reportedly be called the Grand Sport X, an all-wheel-drive electrified variant that shifts the focus away from the E-Ray branding and toward something that sounds more performance-oriented and more in line with Corvette’s historic naming strategy.

That second model is where the rumor gets especially interesting. Corvette Blogger claims the Grand Sport X could produce around 720 horsepower, which would be a healthy jump over the current E-Ray’s 655-hp output. If that number proves accurate, it could point to updates for both the gas engine and the front electric drive system. In effect, Chevrolet may be looking at a sharper, more powerful hybrid Corvette that better fits the expanding hierarchy of the C8 family while still delivering the all-weather traction and instant response that help define the E-Ray.

If this plays out, it would be another sign of just how wide-ranging the C8 Corvette lineup has become. A standard Grand Sport would likely appeal to purists who want a balanced, naturally aggressive setup, while a Grand Sport X could serve as a compelling middle ground for buyers wanting electrified performance without stepping all the way up to a halo car. For now, it is still just a rumor, but with Corvette Blogger at the center of the report, it is the kind of speculation enthusiasts will be watching closely.
