Although there is still plenty of time, the 20th Annual Amelia Island 2015 Concours d’Elegance is rapidly approaching. Held March 13-15, 2015 and only minutes from Automotive Addicts Jacksonville headquarters, the show is something that we collectively hold our breath for and count down the days awaiting its arrival.
Automotive Addicts is fortunate enough to work with Amelia Concours president, Bill Warner, and his fine team, helping put together the Saturday, March 14, 2015 Cars & Coffee at the Concours presented by Heacock Classic Car Insurance from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The Cars & Coffee at the Concours involves over 250 show – but not necessarily concours quality – classic and exotic vehicles, displayed on the 10th and 18th fairways of the Golf Club of Amelia Island. The Saturday event is in many ways equally exciting as the main course Sunday Concours, especially considering that the Automotive Addicts team gets to play an integral part in the planning and on the day of the show.
This year I am bringing my 1975 Datsun 280z. In the final stages of restoration, the car has been put through hundreds of hours of body and mechanical work. As I approach the final stages of prep for paint, I traveled to the 41st Annual Daytona Turkey Run where I was able to spend some time with Jane Higgs, co-owner of Higgs Auto Paint & Body Supplies in Holly Hill, Florida. Her coaching and advice on choosing a two-part primer was fantastic, keeping my project within budget, but helping me not to skimp too much!
