Introducing the upcoming 2024 BMW X1 M35i xDrive, the German automaker’s latest addition to its entry-level SUV lineup. This powerful vehicle boasts a 2.0-liter engine and a visually striking design, along with enhanced hardware for improved performance on the road. Notably, the X1 M35i xDrive will also be the first BMW model to feature the cutting-edge iDrive 9 infotainment system upon its release in the United States in October of this year.

The new X1 M35i xDrive will be equipped with an upgraded version of BMW’s 2.0-liter engine. This enhanced powertrain incorporates various improvements, including a reinforced crankshaft, an optimized oil supply system, and main bearing shells and caps borrowed from BMW’s six-cylinder engines. As a result, the four-cylinder engine generates 312 horsepower, available between 5,750 and 6,500 rpm, and delivers a peak torque of 295 pound-feet, spanning from 2,000 to 4,500 rpm. This represents a significant increase compared to the base model’s 241 horsepower output.

To effectively transfer power to all four wheels, BMW has integrated its xDrive system into the X1 M35i. Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, this setup incorporates a mechanical limited-slip differential, contributing to enhanced handling dynamics, particularly when maneuvering through corners being that this is a front-wheel-drive-based vehicle with a transverse engine. The combined performance capabilities of the X1 M35i xDrive result in an impressive acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 5.2 seconds, while the electronically limited top speed reaches 155 mph.

Ensuring optimal braking performance, the X1 M35i is equipped with a new integrated brake system. Notably, this M Performance model offers an optional M Compound system, featuring four-piston calipers with 15.2-inch drilled discs at the front wheels, complemented by single-piston units with 13.0-inch discs at the rear. These substantial brakes, finished in gloss grey, are discreetly concealed behind standard 19-inch wheels or optional 20-inch wheels. Additionally, the X1 M35i comes standard with BMW’s adjustable M Suspension and sport steering, further enhancing its driving dynamics.

The exterior design of the range-topping X1 M35i perfectly matches its power and performance. Notable exterior features include enlarged air intakes on the front fascia, prominent side skirt extensions, a model-specific roof spoiler, and a rear apron incorporating a new diffuser with quad exhaust pipes.

Stepping inside the cabin, the X1 M35i offers an array of impressive features. Optional M sport seats, an instrument panel trimmed with Alcantara, and an anthracite-colored roof liner provide a sporty and luxurious atmosphere. However, the highlight of the interior is the latest iteration of BMW’s iDrive infotainment system. The X1 M35i xDrive will be the first BMW vehicle to showcase the all-new iDrive 9 technology, featuring a redesigned home screen and an improved menu structure inspired by consumer electronic devices.

Interested buyers in the United States can expect the arrival of the 2024 X1 M35i xDrive at BMW dealerships in October 2023. The starting price for this range-topping model, including destination and handling fees, will be $50,895. Production of the X1 M35i will take place at the esteemed BMW Group Plant Regensburg, Germany.
