Unleashing the power of AMG, Mercedes presents the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC, an exciting preview of their upcoming compact SUV models. Among them, the GLC43 and GLC63 S E Performance stand out as the most potent iterations of the GLC to date.

At the foundation of the GLC43 lies a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, joined with an integrated starter generator, producing an impressive 416 horsepower. For an extra boost, an additional 13 horsepower is available through the starter generator at lower speeds. To complement this mild-hybrid powertrain, the GLC43 comes equipped with a nine-speed multi-clutch transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive, featuring a Speedshift MCT gearbox for smoother low-speed operation and enhanced full-throttle response. The AMG Ride Control system further enhances performance with rear-axle steering and a standard air suspension with adaptive damping.

Moving up the ladder to the GLC63 S E Performance reveals a unique surprise. Contrary to expectations of a V8 engine, this model incorporates a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, combined with a rear-mounted electric motor, churning out an astonishing 671 horsepower and 752 pound-feet of torque. The four-cylinder alone boasts 469 horsepower and 402 lb-ft, making it the most potent of its kind globally. With a blistering acceleration time of 3.4 seconds from 0 to 60 miles per hour and an electronically limited top speed of 171 mph, the GLC63 S E Performance promises an exhilarating driving experience. Like its counterpart, it comes equipped with a nine-speed multi-clutch transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive, featuring a fully variable 4Matic+ system capable of sending up to 100 percent of available power to the rear wheels.

Visually, the AMG models exhibit distinct upgrades compared to the standard Benz counterparts. Standout features include a unique grille with vertical slats, larger air intakes, and chrome accents adorning the front end. The GLC43 boasts rounded twin tailpipes, while the GLC63 opts for a trapezoidal design at the rear.

Inside, the GLC43 and GLC63 are enhanced with an improved interior, featuring MB-tex and microfiber cabin as standard, while the option for full Nappa leather with embossed AMG logos on the front headrests adds luxury. For a sportier touch, buyers can choose the Performance seats. The MBUX system, carried over from the base GLC, now includes AMG-specific features. Special AMG graphics are integrated into the instrument cluster, central display, and optional head-up display. Additionally, the infotainment system incorporates AMG Track Pace for data logging, perfect for those who wish to take these SUVs to the track.

The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 SUV is set to arrive in US dealerships early next year. As for the Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S E Performance, it will be released as a 2025 model, making its appearance in US dealerships later in 2024. Pricing for both models has not been disclosed yet, leaving eager enthusiasts in anticipation.
