Mercedes-AMG has once again raised the bar in the world of high-performance SUVs with the unveiling of the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC Coupe. This dynamic and elegant vehicle marks the culmination of years of innovation, bringing together power, style, and advanced technology in a way that is quintessentially Mercedes-AMG.

The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC Coupe offers a lineup of two exceptional models, each designed to cater to a specific type of driver. First up is the GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE Coupe, which is not just a high-performance SUV but also the first of its kind to feature the exclusive AMG E PERFORMANCE hybrid technology. With a system output of  671 horsepower, this model promises a driving experience like no other. It combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric exhaust gas turbocharger, creating an electrified powerhouse that’s as efficient as it is exhilarating.

For those who crave a sporty yet slightly more understated option, the 2024 model year GLC 43 Coupe delivers with 416 horsepower and a brief boost of an additional 13 horsepower via the belt-driven starter generator at lower engine speeds. Both models come standard with rear-axle steering, all-wheel drive, the AMG SPEEDSHIFT® MCT 9G transmission with a wet start-off clutch, and the AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adaptive damping, ensuring that the dynamic driving experience is at the forefront of both models.

Exterior Design

The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC Coupe boasts a sporty silhouette characterized by flowing lines and a seamless transition to the rear. The distinctive front fascia with large air inlets, vertical fins, and additional flics creates a bold and aggressive look. The vehicle’s wide track and flush-fitting wheels, available in sizes ranging from 19 to 21 inches, contribute to its confident stance.

The rear of the GLC Coupe is equally eye-catching, with two-piece taillights and an AMG-specific diffuser-look rear fascia (GLC 43) or an additional diffuser board (GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE). The twin tailpipe trims, round for the GLC 43 and trapezoidal for the GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE, further emphasize the vehicle’s power and aesthetic appeal.

Interior Design

Step inside the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC Coupe, and you’ll find a luxurious and sporty interior that complements the vehicle’s exterior design. The AMG seats, available in MB-Tex/microfiber with unique graphics and upholstery, provide a sporty touch. Optional leather and Nappa leather upholstery with an embossed AMG crest on the front headrests are also available. The interior can be further customized with optional AMG Performance seats.

The AMG Performance steering wheel, either in Nappa leather (GLC 43) or Nappa leather/microfiber (GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE), features aluminum shift paddles and two round AMG DRIVE UNIT buttons for quick and precise operation of various dynamic driving functions. Other sporty touches include AMG sports pedals, floor mats, and illuminated door sills. The MBUX infotainment system offers AMG-specific displays and functions, enhancing the driver’s connection to the vehicle.

Powertrain

At the heart of the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC Coupe models lies the hand-built AMG 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, known as the M139l. What sets this engine apart is its revolutionary electric exhaust gas turbocharger, inspired by Formula 1™ technology. This innovative system provides instantaneous response across the entire speed range, resulting in a more dynamic driving experience and improved efficiency.

The electric exhaust gas turbocharger features a 1.6-inch thin electric motor directly integrated onto the turbocharger’s shaft, allowing for quicker response and higher torque at low RPMs. The GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE takes this technology even further with a larger turbocharger and a 400-volt high-voltage system, resulting in a remarkable 671 horsepower system output and a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of just 3.4 seconds.

The GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE Coupe takes a bold step into the future with its E PERFORMANCE hybrid technology. This model combines the M139l engine with a 201-horsepower electric motor, a high-performance battery, and AMG Performance 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel drive. The result is a staggering 671 horsepower system output and a maximum system torque of 752 lb-ft. This exceptional powertrain enables the GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 171 mph.

The lightweight high-performance battery, inspired by Formula 1™ hybrid race cars, offers rapid energy draw and high power density. With 107 hp of continuous power and 201 hp of peak output, it’s designed for frequent, high-performance use rather than just range. Innovative direct cooling of the battery cells ensures optimal power delivery and safety.

Performance and Handling

Both GLC Coupe models come equipped with the AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with Adaptive Damping System, ensuring a perfect balance between sporty handling and ride comfort. The GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE goes a step further with AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL active roll stabilization, which replaces conventional anti-roll bars and provides precise handling and improved ride quality.

The three-stage AMG speed-sensitive steering system adapts to the selected drive program, offering a perfect blend of comfort and responsiveness. Active rear-axle steering is standard, enhancing agility and maneuverability at low speeds while improving stability at higher speeds.

The 2024 GLC 43 features the AMG sports brake system with internally ventilated and perforated brake discs for confident stopping power. On the other hand, the GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE comes standard with the AMG high-performance composite brake system, offering short braking distances, stability, and fade-resistance even under heavy use.

Mercedes-AMG offers a range of equipment packages to make your GLC Coupe even more unique. The AMG Night package adds high-gloss black accents, while the AMG Night Package Plus incorporates dark chrome elements. The AMG Exterior Carbon Package features visible carbon fiber elements, and the AMG Performance Studio Package adds sporty visual enhancements.
