Ford is revving up the electric vehicle (EV) scene with its latest creation, the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally. This electrifying addition to the Mustang family has been officially unveiled by the Michigan-based automaker, showcasing its electrified performance and off-roading capabilities.

At the heart of this rally-inspired machine lies a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, offering exceptional traction on a variety of terrains. The Rally version distinguishes itself with its striking 19-inch white alloy wheels and a raised suspension, providing an additional 0.78 inches (20 millimeters) of ground clearance compared to its sibling, the Mach-E GT. Complementing the off-road prowess, specially tuned MagneRide shocks promise a smooth and controlled ride even on rugged paths.

Under the hood, or rather under the electric motor cover, the Mustang Mach-E Rally boasts an impressive powertrain. Two electric motors, one at the front and another at the rear, combine their forces to deliver a targeted output of at least 480 horsepower and a staggering 650 pound-feet of torque. This translates to a blistering 0 to 60 miles per hour acceleration time of just 3.5 seconds, making it a force to be reckoned with in the EV performance world.

While these specifications are preliminary estimates, Ford anticipates that the Mustang Mach-E Rally will offer a range of approximately 250 miles on a full charge. This range is made possible by a sizable 91-kilowatt-hour battery pack, capable of accepting DC fast charging at speeds of up to 150 kilowatts.

To visually set it apart from the rest of the Mach-E lineup, the Rally version receives several distinctive features. Gloss white 19-inch rims, 15.1-inch front brake rotors with eye-catching red-painted Brembo calipers, rally-inspired fog lights on the front fascia, a rear spoiler reminiscent of the Focus RS, a front splitter, a black-painted steel roof, and a pair of racing stripes collectively create an aggressive and sporty aesthetic.

Equipped with 235/55 R19 Michelin CrossClimate2 tires, the Mach-E Rally provides additional sidewall protection compared to its counterparts. The vehicle also includes front and rear motor shields, protective film on the door cladding and fender arches, and optional dealer-installed mud flaps for added durability. An integrated recovery point with a hook on the front end ensures that it’s ready for any off-road adventure.

Inside the cabin, gloss white accents adorn the dashboard, lower spokes of the steering wheel, and the backs of Ford-designed performance seats. The doors feature contrasting stitching, adding a touch of sophistication to the interior.

What truly sets the Mustang Mach-E Rally apart is its unique RallySport Drive Mode. Designed for off-road enthusiasts, this mode allows for increased yaw, providing the driver with the ability to execute larger slides. It also offers a linear throttle response for enhanced control and more aggressive damping for improved handling on loose corners.

During testing, Ford engineers and technicians subjected prototypes of the Mach-E Rally to grueling 500-mile rally-cross durability trials, where they were benchmarked against the renowned Subaru WRX. This rigorous testing ensures that the Mach-E Rally lives up to its rally-inspired pedigree.

Ford CEO Jim Farley expressed his excitement, stating, “Mustang Mach-E Rally puts Ford’s decades of passion for rally championships around the world right in the hands of our customers. It takes Mustang where it hasn’t been before – to gravel and dirt roads. Inspired by true driving enthusiasts, a driving experience like never before for the pure joy of driving.”

With a targeted starting price of $65,000 in the United States, the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is set to hit production lines early next year, with deliveries planned for North America and Europe. The available color palette includes Grabber Blue, Shadow Black, Eruption Green, and Grabber Yellow, while Star White and Glacier Gray will be offered as optional extras, allowing customers to personalize their rally-ready Mustang to their liking. This electrifying addition to the Mustang family is poised to redefine the world of electric off-roading.
