DeLorean Next Generation Motors (DNG) is embarking on an exciting journey to pay homage to the legendary John Z. DeLorean while taking a unique and more accessible approach. Kathryn DeLorean, the daughter of John Z. DeLorean, is spearheading this endeavor, setting the stage for something truly remarkable.

DNG Motors emerged on the automotive scene about a year ago with the announcement of their inaugural model, the Model JZD. It’s important to distinguish DNG Motors from another DeLorean endeavor focused on an all-electric performance car, the Alpha5. Kathryn DeLorean’s initiative is all about celebrating her father’s legacy in a distinctive way.

At the foundation of their product lineup is a mid-engined supercar that draws inspiration from the C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette. This yet-to-be-named model is projected to be more affordable and accessible compared to the Model JZD. The choice of the C8 Corvette as a base is not merely due to its affordability but also because of John Z. DeLorean’s illustrious 17-year tenure at GM, during which he served as the head of Chevrolet. It was during his time at Chevrolet that he advocated for a mid-engine Corvette, alongside the renowned Zora Arkus-Duntov.

Although the project is still in its early stages, Kathryn DeLorean has shared some intriguing details. DNG Motors intends to replace the Corvette’s exterior with its own unique design, complete with gullwing doors reminiscent of the iconic DMC-12. The extent of modifications under the hood is not yet fully disclosed, but DeLorean has confirmed that the company will collaborate with various aftermarket performance specialists.

Several renderings of the model, envisioned by Ángel Guerra, have been unveiled, but it remains to be seen how closely the production version will adhere to these designs. According to Kathryn, building a DeLorean based on the Corvette platform is a way to “finish my dad’s story” and fulfill his dream of creating a remarkable sports car.

At the pinnacle of DNG’s product lineup stands the Model JZD, a limited-edition, hand-crafted masterpiece that will command a significantly higher price point than the anticipated $125,000 for the Alpha5. With a production cap set at just 42 units worldwide, the Model JZD will also boast the distinctive gullwing doors, a nod to the iconic DeLorean DMC-12.

DNG Motors is poised to make a unique mark in the world of high-performance sports cars, paying tribute to John Z. DeLorean’s vision while embracing modern design and innovation. This exciting venture promises to offer car enthusiasts a new perspective on the DeLorean legacy.
