Audi has officially revealed the 2025 Audi Q6 E-Tron, a groundbreaking addition to Audi’s electric vehicle lineup placing it above the Q4 e-tron but below the Q8 e-tron.
At its core lies Audi’s innovative Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, also found in the Porsche Macan EV. This marks the first time Audi has adopted this platform under its own branding. The Q6 E-Tron boasts an 800-volt system, housing two electric motors with a rear bias in both power distribution and weight allocation. Initially offered in two trims – the standard Q6 and the performance-oriented SQ6 – both variants are equipped with a 100-kWh (94.9-kWh net) battery pack. While Sportback versions will follow, Audi is also developing a rear-wheel-drive iteration for extended range.
In North America, buyers can anticipate the standard Q6 E-Tron to deliver a combined 422 horsepower, a slight increase of 40 hp compared to its European counterpart. The SQ6, tailored for enthusiasts, pushes the boundaries with 483 hp. Activating launch control elevates the output to 456 hp in the Q6 and 510 hp in the SQ6, enhancing acceleration capabilities. The Q6 achieves a 0-60 mph sprint in around 5.0 seconds with launch control, while the SQ6 slashes that time to 4.2 seconds.
Audi estimates an EPA range of 300 miles for the standard Q6 E-Tron, with figures for the SQ6 pending. Both trims share the same battery, indicating a slightly reduced range for the SQ6. However, what truly sets the Q6 E-Tron apart is its rapid charging capability – capable of reaching 80 percent charge from 10 percent in just 21 minutes when connected to a DC fast charger, drawing 270 kW.
Beyond sheer performance, Audi’s PPE architecture prioritizes electric packaging and driving dynamics. Innovative design choices, such as positioning control arms in front of suspension arms, optimize battery placement. The fixed steering rack enhances control, complemented by wider rear tires for improved grip.
Yet, it’s the integration of advanced technology that truly defines the Q6 E-Tron. The E3 (End-to-End Electronic) architecture features an AI-driven assistant, leveraging machine learning to manage various systems and offer proactive suggestions based on user behavior. An interactive avatar serves as the interface for this AI, appearing on the central 14.5-inch display or the optional augmented-reality heads-up display.
In essence, the 2025 Audi Q6 E-Tron represents a fusion of cutting-edge performance, intelligent design, and advanced technology, setting a new standard for electric SUVs.
