Nissan GT-R Launch Control Reprogram Clarification from Nissan

January 30, 2009 by
Filed under Automotive, Featured, News, Nissan

Recently InsideLine reported that Nissan begun implementing a software change on new GT-R’s awaiting delivery and delivering a message to current owners to bring their vehicles in for reprogramming. The new reprogram modification would have “acceleration similar to that with the current launch control,” and will do this without disabling the VDC – Vehicle Dynamic Control. It will have a “launch mode” that reduces the launch rev to around 3,000 to 3,500 rpm. This will supposedly reduce stress on the drivetrain where the new program mapping will engage the clutch in “softer” manor. Also stated by Nissan is that all GT-R’s sold from now and into the future will have this new programming.

The situation, “…had been blown way out of proportion” says Scott Vazin, Nissan North America’s chief of product public relations. That’s pretty obvious by the famous Hitler Broke His GT-R video that we posted a few weeks ago.

Nissan is committed to the warranty claim when VDC is disabled. Simply put, it will still void your warranty unless it is being used to free the vehicle from being stuck in mud or snow. Yea, I’m going to jump in my GT-R today and go mudding and while I am at it I’m going to watch Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift to learn how to drift and then… I will hit the snow fields with VDC off so I can show these clowns how you drift and hold a deep conversation at the same time.

Below is the dealer directive in regards to the new programming: What a Load!

BMW Concept Scribble Video – Is This The New 5-Series GT?

This makes you start to really think how BMW designs their cars. Why do they use those silly round headlights with halos around them? Why do they have well balanced vehicles with rear wheel drive? What if they had to design a car to “appeal” to certain customers or circumstances? Hmm, what if.

This new BMW video draws speculation of the upcoming BMW V5 PAS (BMW 5-Series GT Concept). From the subtle suggestions of new features being transferred to a “car” with more legroom, truck room and headroom complete with a panoramic roof. New storage area features that are revolutionary and “ingenious”… that’s what it is all about.

Below we have included the first video of a series presenting a revolutionary concept by BMW. Innovative space concepts, premium comfort. It is not a sedan, no SUV and no station-wagon, but 100% BMW.

We thought this was interesting enough to post leading up to the silly Superbowl Commercials this weekend. At least they didn’t pay millions of dollars to air this one. Thank God! Enjoy!

One of the rawest 911’s that you can buy, the Porsche 911 GT2, with rear wheel drive and a manual 6-speed gearbox and a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds. It does not get any better than this when you are looking for a drivers machine. I guess Jay Leno knows that when he takes out the new Porsche 911 GT2 for a spin.

2010 Porsche 911 GT3 Gets New Facelift

January 29, 2009 by
Filed under Automotive, Featured, Porsche, Video

Facelifts are so overrated but not the one on the newest Porsche 911 GT3. You have to admit that the Porsche 911 was and still is a true classic with the evolution taking small steps with each being a slight improvement. One can argue that the changes to the recent Porsche 911 models are too drastic and others may say they are not drastic enough. Either way, we all know what a 911 looks like and it seems we always will.

The 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 will get a 20hp bump from the previous model year totaling 435hp but do not let that fool you, the GT3 is still a GT3 and we all know it hangs with the best of them that put out even more power. Come on, it is a Porsche, a Porsche GT3!

705hp Hennessey ZR700 Corvette Unveiled

January 28, 2009 by
Filed under Automotive, Chevrolet, Featured, News

You may remember we posted information on the Hennessey 705hp HPE700 Camaro and now Hennessey continues on with this 705hp tradition by tuning the Corvette ZR1 introducing a 705hp Hennessey ZR700 Corvette.

Undoubtedly the Chevy Corvette ZR1 is Americans most powerful (native) supercar available. You thought 638hp was enough? Obviously Hennessey did not. They pumped an extra 67 ponies by increasing the boost from the supercharger by 3psi for a total of 14psi while installing other gadgets like a new intercooler, high-flow cats, stainless steel exhaust headers and a custom ECU programming. Just like the Hennessey Camaro, these parts will be available as a mail order kit later this year around May… ZR1 not included.

From these mods the performance jumps to an impressive 0-60 time of 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 212mph.

Speculation is that there will be a even more powerful Corvette ZR750 (add on kit) which will replace some internals of the already magnificent LS9 engine upping horse power to 755 with 730lb-ft of torque. That’s a serious bite!

Below are two exclusive videos of the Hennessey ZR700 Corvette running the quarter mile in 11.03 seconds and getting a “quick” dyno run … after the jump…
