When we had the chance to test drive the new 2014 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe we begged the idea of BMW turning this coupe-styled sedan into an official M car. Sure, there were already speculations of the Gran Coupe coming in an M flavor but nothing set in stone. Well, BMW has answered our prayers with the official introduction of the new 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe to join the M car rankings of the new M5, M6 Coupe and M6 Convertible.

The new M6 Gran Coupe features the same twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine rated at 560 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque as found at the heart of the new M5 and M6 vehicles. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and unique Active M Differential combining an electronic control and a multi-plate limited-slip diff. Locking force can be varied from 0 to 100 percent to optimize traction and stability.

The new 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe is said to dash from 0-60 mph in just 4.1 seconds and hold a steady electronically limited 155 mph top speed. We look for many available options in the current BMW 650i Gran Coupe to be standard on the new M6 Gran Coupe with a full list of packaged and a-la-cart options customized for the true M-Motorsport experience.

Look for the new 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe to reach US BMW Showrooms in early Summer of 2013. Official technical specifications and pricing will be relabeled closer to its start-sales date.
