Ford Unhappy About Chevy’s Apocalyptic Super Bowl Ad: Video

Given the recent string of cataclysmic events across the globe, Chevy’s Super Bowl ad for the Silverado pickup was, at best, insensitive. Events like the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Hurricane Katrina in the U.S. and last spring’s outbreak of tornadoes in Alabama make end-of-the-world videos not quite as funny as they used to be. Add in the ongoing situation in the Middle East, and the video hits a bit close to home for anyone following world events. Read more
Rumor Du Jour: 2012 Camaro ZL1 To Have “Over” 570 Horsepower

General Motors uses the same basic engine in three cars: the Corvette ZR1 (where it’s called the LS9), the Cadillac CTS-V (where it’s called the LSA) and in the upcoming Camaro ZL1 (where it will also be called the LSA). In all cases, it’s a 6.2-liter, pushrod V-8 that ranges from 556 horsepower in LSA trim to 638 horsepower in LS9 trim. To get the additional ponies, GM bumps up the compression ratio (from 9.0:1 to 9.1:1) and adds a bigger blower for use in the Corvette ZR1. In other words, GM’s engineers have an 82 horsepower spread to work with, and can easily build an LSA motor over 600 horsepower if product needs dictate. Read more

Okay, government General Motors has emerged from bankruptcy as a leaner and meaner operation force happily able to appease the Obama administration and even whoa consumers looking to buy a new car. The “whoa” you are hearing from consumers is a very loud one after the announcement of the Chevy Volt, GM’s prided and newly found work-horse vehicle to take them into the next century, getting 230 miles to the gallon.

With the new Chevrolet Camaro hitting the streets of America, it is only a matter of time that you see one pull up in your rearview mirror and then blaze past you with a faint exhaust note trailing the transformer looking rear-end. Now if you are privileged to see a tuned new Camaro then we suggest you break out a camera and get some exclusive images because you are still hard-pressed to find a modded 2010 Camaro. Speaking of a modded Camaro, Inside Line recently tested the 2010 Hennessey HPE550 Supercharged Chevy Camaro SS.

Who said Hummers are one of the most gas guzzling and uneconomical SUV’s around? I actually use to say that all the time until now. A Utah company, Raser Technologies, has converted a Hummer H3 into a 100mpg extended range vehicle good for about 40 miles.
Today posted on Wired.com’s blog is a write-up about this new mammoth that was one of the most criticized vehicles when it comes to fuel efficiency. Raser Technologies says this vehicle should push 90mph and still have off-road capabilities. It has a lithium ion battery that can be charged in 3 hours. The company has also said they will be converting upwards of 2000 of these big SUV’s by the end of the year.
So why start with a Hummer in making it an EV or extended range electric vehicle?
Below is a short excerpt from wired.com’s blog answering that very question:
2010 Chevrolet Camaro: Motor Trend Test Drives 2010 Chevy Camaro

Can you believe it has been about 7 years since the last Chevy Camaro rolled off the assembly line? Wow, I sure can’t believe it. I guess it is time that it came back and the new one does not disappoint with a tested 0-60mph time of 4.6 seconds (SS V8 automatic) as tested by Motor Trend with an automatic tranny. That’s pretty impressive! I just hope these numbers are not fudged by GM paying off Motor Trend (behind closed doors). That would put the new 2010 Camaro just ahead of the new Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang. The American muscle is back! Maybe this will help SAVE the big 3 from a disaster about to happen. What do you think?
View the Motor Trend test drive video below after the jump!
Motor Trend Performance Numbers:
2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS V8
- 0-60: 4.7 second (manual transmission) 4.6 (automatic transmission)
- ¼ mile: 14.4 seconds @ 98mph
- Skidpad Lateral Acceleration: 0.80g
- 60-0 braking: 105 – 107 feet

Rick Wagoner Bringing Chevy Volt to D.C.
Rest assured, you will see plenty of images and press talk on Rick Wagoner’s trip to D.C. Today because he will be driving a Chevy Cruze with components from the Chevy Volt. The 2011 Chevy Volt will be their also, on display. If you are in the area you will have time to check it out in person near Delaware Ave. and C Street.
I wonder if this type of press will have any influence on Congress’s decision?
