It was only inevitable that we would see the new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe receive the proper M treatment as have virtually every other BMW series. According to Car and Driver, BMW has now confirmed a new M6 Gran Coupe coming to the U.S. likely as a 2014 model year.
Spy photographers already captured what appeared to be a new M6 Gran Coupe in testing. We even posted new renderings of what a new M6 Gran Coupe would look like. Now it is official, the new M6 Gran Coupe will borrow it’s M5 and M6 siblings’ twin-turbo V8 engine and 7-speed DCT dual-clutch transmission. Just like Car and Driver, we hope to see them source the U.S. version of the new M6 Coupe’s 6-speed manual transmission in the M6 Gran Coupe.
The new 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe will compete with the current Benz CLS63 AMG and Porsche Panamera. We look for an official reveal of the M6 Gran Coupe around the end of 2012 or early 2013 carrying a price possibly $10k to $15k north of the current 2013 M5 Sedan’s MSRP.
